Deep 6 Single Tank Wing Package Backplate and Wing Review

The orange webbing is the giveaway that this is the full Deep 6 package and not a mix of parts. It also makes routing and sizing the harness far less confusing the first time round.

Nothing decorative on show. A plate, a wing and webbing is what most single tank divers actually need, and this package stops there.

Where the inflator sits decides how fast you can dump gas. Work that out on the bench, not while ascending faster than you meant to.
Our reviewer running both hands along the outer shell and orange webbing of the Deep 6 wing
The outer shell takes the abuse so the bladder inside does not. It is the part that decides whether a budget wing lasts five seasons or one.

One continuous strap, a few D rings and no plastic buckles. Less to break, and less to fumble with when your hands are cold.

A wing works when you stop noticing it. Nothing to reach for, nothing shifting on the back when you turn.

Trim like this comes from plate weight and tank placement, not from what the wing cost. Budget rigs lose points elsewhere, not here.

The Deep 6 Single Tank Wing Package offers a simple and flexible backplate and wing system for divers who want a lightweight and travel-ready option. This system is highly customizable.

Choose between a steel or aluminum backplate and pick the wing size that best suits your diving needs. Optional accessories like weight pockets or a tank adapter can be added for extra convenience.

Things we like:

  • Quick-dry outer material keeps the wing light, making it ideal for travel. The aluminum backplate is perfect for warm waters, while the steel version helps with weight distribution in colder conditions.
  • Setup comes unassembled, allowing divers to customize their setup
  • Coated materials prevent water absorption, keeping the gear light during and after dives
  • Integrated handle makes it easy to transport between dives.
  • Easy to add weight pockets or a tank adapter, making it simple to adjust to your diving preferences

Things we don't like:

  • Assembly is required, which may be challenging for those new to backplate and wing systems
  • Bare bones design might not be suitable for divers who prefer built-in features
