Two Maldives resorts picked up dive-related honors at the 2026 Travel Trade Maldives Awards.
Royal Island, in Baa Atoll’s UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, won Best Dive Resort. According to Visit Maldives, its dive operation, diveOceanus, runs courses from Discover Scuba Diving through Divemaster, plus nitrox, refresher and freediving courses. House reef and training dives run daily, alongside two-tank boat dives and night dives by arrangement. Hanifaru Bay, where manta rays and sometimes whale sharks gather during plankton blooms, is about 25 minutes away. The resort also maintains coral nurseries in its lagoon and house reef.
Sun Siyam Vilu Reef, part of the Privé Collection, won Best House Reef. Visit Maldives reports its reef is accessible directly from the beach and overwater villas, with sea turtles, reef sharks, tropical fish and eagle rays that the resort describes as resident. The resort runs guided reef dives and coral restoration activities alongside its regular dive program.
