The Barrel and Rail System

The barrel is 28mm (1.1 inch) diameter anticorodal aluminum with a circular cross-section. Anticorodal is a marine-grade aluminum alloy that resists saltwater corrosion well, which matters if you are diving in the ocean regularly.

The rail is integrated into the barrel. This means the shaft travels along a guided track rather than sitting loosely in an open barrel. In practical terms, the shaft stays aligned through the full power stroke, which directly improves shot accuracy, especially at longer ranges.

The muzzle is a closed design, compact and hydrodynamic. The band hook is aligned with the barrel axis, so the pull from the elastic band is perfectly straight. A misaligned pull is one of the most common causes of a shot going wide, and Cressi has addressed it here by design rather than leaving it to chance.

The closed muzzle also includes an integrated metal fairlead for a dual line pass, and Cressi says the forward visibility from this muzzle is good, which matters when you are acquiring a target quickly.

Sizes and Shooting Range

The Comanche Rail comes in five barrel lengths. Your choice here depends on where you hunt and what you are hunting.

The 60cm and 75cm models suit reef hunting, rocky crevices, and confined spaces where a long gun becomes a liability. You trade range for maneuverability.

The 90cm to 110cm models are better suited to open water and blue water hunting, where you need distance and power to reach fish that will not come close.

If you are unsure, the 75cm or 90cm tends to be the practical middle ground for mixed reef and open-water recreational hunting.

Shaft, Line, and Band

The shaft is 6.0mm (0.23 inch) 17-4 PH stainless steel, heat treated and spring tempered. 17-4 PH is a precipitation-hardened stainless alloy known for toughness and corrosion resistance. It holds up better under repeated loading stress than cheaper shaft materials.

The shaft comes with a single flopper barb tip. A flopper is a hinged barb that lies flat during entry and then locks open inside the fish to prevent it from pulling free. It is the standard choice for most recreational spearfishing situations.

The shaft is rigged with a 1.4mm braided multifilament line rated to 80kg (176 lbs.). That is a meaningful safety margin for most fish you are likely to encounter in recreational hunting.

The included band is a 16mm (5/8 inch) pure black latex elastic with a French articulated wishbone. The articulated wishbone design makes loading safer and more consistent, because the wishbone seats into the shaft notch at a controlled angle rather than requiring you to wrestle it straight.

If you want more power, Cressi has designed the muzzle to accept upgrade bands: the S45 at 18mm (0.70 inch) or the G20 at 20mm (0.78 inch). You do not need to buy a new gun to step up your band strength as your hunting evolves.

Handle and Ergonomics

The handle is thermoplastic rubber in a silver-gray color. Anti-slip texture matters when your hands are wet and cold. The gray color is intentionally low-visibility on the seafloor, which reduces the chance of startling fish during an approach.

Cressi describes the handle angle as specifically designed to improve shot precision. The angle affects how naturally your wrist aligns with the barrel when you aim, and a well-angled grip reduces the small corrections you have to make at the moment of the shot.

The line system is a double loop that retracts automatically, positioned in the corner between the trigger guard and the barrel base. Retractable line stays out of the way during loading and movement, which reduces the chance of a tangle at a critical moment.
