The Atomic Aquatics B2X is a complete regulator set, first stage and second stage together, built from titanium and finished with a Diamond-Like Carbon coating on the first stage.

What the B2X Actually Is

The B2X pairs Atomic Aquatics' titanium second stage with a first stage that wears a black Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) finish over chrome plating.

Titanium is lighter than brass and highly corrosion-resistant, which matters if you dive in salt water regularly or travel often. A titanium second stage reduces jaw fatigue on longer dives and cuts weight in your kit bag.

The DLC coating on the first stage is not just cosmetic. Diamond-Like Carbon is exceptionally hard and wear-resistant, and it adds a layer of corrosion protection that outlasts standard chrome or anodized finishes. In practical terms, the first stage should hold up well to repeated salt-water exposure without the surface degradation you sometimes see on older chrome regulators.

Cold Water Performance

The B2X is described as freeze-resistant, which is a meaningful spec if you dive in cold or temperate water.

Regulator free-flow (where the second stage dumps air continuously) is a real risk in cold conditions, caused by ice forming around the valve mechanism. A freeze-resistant design addresses this directly. If your diving takes you into water below around 10°C (50°F), this is worth knowing. If you only dive warm tropical water, it is a nice-to-have rather than a deciding factor.

The Adjustable Second Stage

The second stage includes an adjustment for air delivery. This lets you tune the breathing effort to your preference and to conditions.

In calmer, shallower water you might dial it back slightly to reduce the chance of accidental free-flow. At depth or in current, you can open it up for a more responsive draw. It is a small control that makes a noticeable difference once you are used to using it, particularly on dives where conditions vary.

Travel and Everyday Use

Titanium construction keeps the overall weight down compared to a brass regulator set. If you travel with your own gear, that difference adds up across a trip, especially when airlines are strict about luggage allowances.

The compact design of the second stage also means less bulk at your face, which some divers find more comfortable on longer dives.

Yoke Configuration

The B2X is a yoke (A-clamp) regulator, which connects to the standard valve fitting found on the vast majority of dive cylinders worldwide. If you rent tanks or travel to different dive centres, yoke is the safest choice for compatibility. If you are already committed to DIN fittings on your cylinders, note that this version will not thread directly onto a DIN valve without an adapter.

Limited Production

Production of the B2X is limited to 2024. That means once current stock is gone, this exact configuration will not be reordered. If you are drawn to the DLC finish and the specific combination of materials here, that is worth factoring into your timing.

Who This Regulator Is and Is Not For

The B2X suits an experienced diver who wants a lightweight, durable daily-use regulator and appreciates a finish that holds up over years of diving rather than showing wear quickly.

It is a reasonable choice if you dive cold water, travel frequently, or simply want a long-service regulator that does not need constant attention.

It is not the right starting point if you are newly certified and still working out what you want from a regulator. The investment level here makes more sense once you know your dive profile, your preferred configuration, and whether titanium weight savings genuinely matter to your kit setup.
