Subea more or less created the full face snorkel category, and the 500 is the mask most people meet first. The dry top snorkel sits high and clips into the frame rather than hanging off a strap, which is a big part of why it stays put.

It looks bulky from this angle, but the skirt only touches the forehead, cheeks and chin. Those three contact points are where the fit either works or leaks.

Fabric straps instead of silicone are kinder on hair and far less likely to snag when you drag the mask off, though they stay damp longer between snorkels.

The orange snorkel tip is the detail that matters most at the surface. It is the one part of this mask a boat driver can actually see while you float face down.

The skirt is one soft piece running the full way around the face. It seals well on bare skin and much less well over a beard or the edge of a hood.

This joint is where the snorkel locks into the frame, and it is the first place worth checking for cracks or stiffness after a season of sun and salt water.

Looking straight in shows the design clearly: a small mouth and nose pocket sits inside the main shell, separating your breath from the air you are looking through.

Review

The Tribord Subea Easybreath 500 is a great option for snorkelers looking for a well crafted full face snorkeling mask that is reliable and safe in the water. After testing the mask several times along with 10 other masks, we found that the Tribord Subea Easybreath 500 was one of the better full face snorkel mask models.

This newer model comes in a number of different colors and designs so that you can customize the mask the way you see fit. The Tribord Subea Easybreath 500 full face snorkel mask is comfortable, durable and stylish.

Looking straight in shows the design clearly: a small mouth and nose pocket sits inside the main shell, separating your breath from the air you are looking through.

It is important to note that many people, including the author after having tested both masks, believe that the original Tribord Easybreath is a better version than this mask. This is because it is slightly more comfortable and durable than this full face snorkel mask model.

One of the main improvements from the original model that the Tribord Subea Easybreath 500 features, is the dry top release that minimizes the effect of waves blocking the snorkel and allows for continuous breathing even in harsher conditions.

A drawback of this model is that it has a long shape and for this reason, the mask lets in some water for people with rounder faces. This is something some of us experienced.

Features

Tribord Subea Easybreath 500 features a secure lock snorkel that helps to prevent detachment of the snorkel from the mask.

This full face snorkel mask facilitates natural breathing through the nose and mouth through a double chamber air vent valve that provides consistent fresh airflow. Tribord claims that effort on breathing is reduced by 20% with this newer model as compared to the original model.

It looks bulky from this angle, but the skirt only touches the forehead, cheeks and chin. Those three contact points are where the fit either works or leaks.

The mask features an 180° viewing experience that will allow you to explore the underwater world with clarity.

Tribord has implemented their patented anti-fogging design into all their mask models and the Tribord Subea Easybreath 500 is no exception.

The elasticated textile straps that secure the mask to the snorkeler’s head are easily adjustable and do not get caught on long hair.

The XS size offers one of the most comfortable full face snorkel mask models for children aged 6 to 10.

Price/Quality Ratio

Due to the fact that this mask is imported from Europe, the price is relatively affordable at $90, meaning that the Tribord Subea Easybreath 500 has a weaker price to quality ratio.

The fact that this mask is durable and will last you a long time is of some consolation and a big reason why you should consider the Tribord Subea Easybreath 500 as a top option when looking to purchase a full face snorkeling mask.

Do we recommend it?

We recommend the Tribord Subea Easybreath 500 full face snorkel mask for snorkelers that want a stylish and reliable full face snorkel mask that will allow them to explore the underwater world.

The Tribord Subea Easybreath 500 is a great option for a reliable and customizable full face snorkeling mask and the XS size is one of the best full face snorkel mask options for children

The Tribord Subea Easybreath 500 is the updated and modernized version of the original Tribord Easybreath. It generally fits well with most people’s faces and is easy to use with it’s snap on snorkel design.

Generally, this mask is a great all rounder and is a suitable fashion conscious option to some of the other blander full face snorkel masks.

Easy to use and made with high quality materials Tribord is a popular choice for anyone looking to try the full face snorkel masks. With both adult and child sizes available, it is family friendly and worth the purchase, especially for those unsure if they will enjoy the new snorkel experience.
