H-2 steel is a high-alloy steel with an unusually low carbon content. Carbon is what allows rust to form. By reducing it sharply, Spyderco produces a blade that is genuinely resistant to saltwater corrosion, not just marketing-resistant. You can rinse it, not rinse it, and leave it damp without the anxiety that comes with a conventional blade.

The blade is 3 inches long and ground hollow, which means the cross-section curves inward from the spine to the edge. Hollow grinding produces a thinner, sharper edge that slices cleanly through rope, packaging, fish, food, and cord.
