The Shearwater Peregrine TX is a wrist dive computer built for recreational and sport divers who want tank pressure on their wrist without moving into a trimix or closed-circuit computer.

The display and controls

The centerpiece is a 2.2-inch full-color LCD with LED backlights and a 320 x 240 resolution. The lens is toughened glass, and the case is ballistic nylon polymer.

Large color-coded numbers stay readable in low light and on a silty ascent. The menu system is designed to be easy to navigate underwater, so you can change gas mixes and display fields without hunting through submenus.

Haptic alerts vibrate on your wrist for important notifications, such as surface interval completion or gas switches.

Air integration and the Swift transmitter

The included Shearwater Swift transmitter screws into a standard 7/16-inch high-pressure port on your regulator first stage. It reads tank pressure and sends it to the Peregrine TX.

On the screen you can watch tank pressure, and the computer calculates gas time remaining based on your current depth and breathing rate. You can pair up to four transmitters, which matters for sidemount or for monitoring a second cylinder.

The transmitter is rated to 300 bar / 4350 psi and reports pressure in 0.14 bar / 2 psi steps. Its rechargeable battery lasts up to 300 dive hours when pressurized.

Compass and navigation

The built-in 3-axis tilt-compensated digital compass gives you a heading even when your wrist is not perfectly level. You can set a reciprocal heading to get back to your starting point.

That is useful during navigation training or any dive where you want to follow a bearing without carrying a separate compass.

Gases and dive planning

The Peregrine TX supports three open-circuit gases. You can run air or nitrox mixes with oxygen content between 1% and 100%.

It handles 3-gas nitrox and sidemount gas tracking with cylinder switch notifications. This makes it a solid choice for sidemount recreational divers and for divers who carry a stage or pony bottle.

It is a decompression computer, so it tracks your no-decompression limits and gives you stop information if you go into deco.

This is not a trimix computer. If you plan to dive helium mixes or a closed-circuit rebreather, this is the wrong tool. For air and nitrox diving, including sidemount, it covers the range most sport divers actually use.

Battery, charging, and dive log

The computer uses a rechargeable Li-Ion battery and a wireless charging station. At medium brightness you can expect up to 30 hours per charge.

That is enough for a multi-day dive trip without carrying spare batteries. The battery is factory replaceable when it eventually wears out.

The dive log stores 400 hours at a 10-second sampling rate. You can sync and update the computer over Bluetooth.

Build and fit

The Peregrine TX weighs 125 grams. The 26mm silicone band has a stainless steel clasp. The case is ballistic nylon polymer, and the lens is toughened glass.

Both the computer and transmitter are designed and built in Canada. That weight and band keep the computer light on your wrist for long dives and travel.
