Why buy from Amazon?

Amazon has a documented Prime delivery program that covers millions of items, and that is the most concrete order-related support behind buying here.

Worth knowing

Some customers report slower replies or needing more follow-up than expected when they asked for help after ordering. If an order needs post-purchase support, that part of the experience is not always smooth.

Some customers also report delivery problems after ordering. That keeps follow-up and delivery as the areas to watch if you place the order here.

Quick Facts About OrcaTorch D630 V2.0 Canister Dive Light

  • A canister primary light built for cave, wreck, and technical divers who need serious output in overhead environments.
  • Five CREE LEDs put out 4,000 lumens on high, with a tight 7-degree beam that reaches deep into dark passages.
  • Three brightness modes give you flexibility: high runs around 5 hours, mid around 7 hours, and low nearly 24 hours.
  • When the battery drops below 10%, the light automatically shifts to a 120-lumen emergency mode with roughly 5 hours of reserve runtime.
  • The cable between canister and head rotates 90 and 180 degrees, so it works with both back-mount and sidemount configurations.
  • Aircraft-grade aluminum body with a hard-anodized corrosion-resistant finish and a titanium alloy switch with a safe-lock to prevent accidental activation.
  • Rated to 492 feet (150m) and negatively buoyant at 1.32 lbs underwater, so it sits steady in your hand or on a Goodman handle.
  • A good match for technical and overhead-environment divers who want a dependable primary light with configurable mounting and long burn times.

OrcaTorch D630 V2.0 – High-Output Canister Light for Cave and Wreck Diving

The OrcaTorch D630 V2.0 is a primary canister dive light built specifically for penetration diving: cave diving, wreck diving, and any environment where you are moving through enclosed or overhead spaces with no natural light.

If that describes your diving, this light is worth a serious look. If you are a recreational diver doing open-water dives in reasonable visibility, a canister light is more than you need, and a simpler handheld torch will serve you better.

Output and Beam

The D630 V2.0 runs five CREE LEDs through a 7-degree beam angle. That is an extremely narrow, focused beam, which is exactly what penetration divers need.

In open water, a wide flood beam is pleasant. Inside a wreck or cave, a tight beam lets you throw light far down a passage, read silt lines and markers at distance, and avoid washing out the detail in front of you.

The light runs three output levels:

Mode Output Burn Time
High 4,000 lumens 5 hours
Mid 1,500 lumens 7 hours 26 minutes
Low 460 lumens 23 hours 50 minutes

The verified maximum output is 4,000 lumens. Plan your dives around that figure.

Five hours at full power covers a long technical dive comfortably. The mid and low modes give you meaningful reserve options, which matters when you are calculating thirds or planning multi-stage penetrations.

The Canister Design and Cable Flexibility

A canister light separates the battery pack from the light head. The battery canister mounts to your body or stage cylinder, and a cable runs to a compact light head you hold or mount to a Goodman handle.

This design keeps the weight distributed across your rig rather than concentrated in your hand. On long dives, that matters.

The D630 V2.0 uses an angle-adjustable cable with a positive-retention threaded sleeve, which lets you set the angle between canister and light head at 90 degrees or 180 degrees and lock it there securely. This is a practical detail: it means the light works whether you are running a sidemount configuration or a backmount configuration without needing a different cable or adapter.

The light head can also be used handheld or with a Goodman-style handle. A Goodman handle frees your hand for line work and buoyancy control, which is standard practice in cave diving.

Battery and Emergency Reserve

The battery pack is a 3,000mAh, 7.4-volt, 89Wh rechargeable lithium pack. It is a proprietary format, so you are working within OrcaTorch's ecosystem for replacements and spares.

One feature worth knowing: when the battery drops below 10%, the system automatically steps down to an emergency mode producing 120 lumens for approximately 5 hours. That is not enough light to dive by in a penetration environment, but it is enough to navigate out of a known space and signal. It is a sensible safety backstop, not a substitute for proper gas and light redundancy planning.

The battery also functions as a USB power bank on the surface. That is a convenience feature, not a diving one, but it is useful on a liveaboard or at a remote site.

Construction and Depth Rating

The body is aircraft-grade aluminum with a Type III military hard-anodized finish, which is a corrosion-resistant coating designed to hold up in seawater over time. The lens is 4mm toughened glass with coatings on both sides. The switch is titanium alloy.

These are not decorative choices. Canister lights take physical abuse: they get clipped to D-rings, dragged through restrictions, and rinsed in salt water repeatedly. The materials here are appropriate for that use.

Depth rating is 492 feet (150 meters), which exceeds the range of technical recreational diving and covers trimix cave and deep wreck work.

The complete unit with battery weighs 3 pounds (1.37 kg) in air and is negatively buoyant by 1.32 pounds (600 grams) underwater. Negative buoyancy is standard and expected for a canister light. You will clip it off when you are not holding it, and it will stay where you put it.

Switch and Lockout

The switch is a side-mounted titanium button with a safe-lock function to prevent accidental activation. Accidental activation in a dive bag is a real problem with high-output lights: it drains the battery before you enter the water. A lockout mechanism is a practical necessity, not a bonus feature.

Who This Light Is and Is Not For

The D630 V2.0 is a capable primary light for technical divers doing cave or wreck penetration. The output, burn time, beam angle, depth rating, and canister format all point in that direction.

It is also a reasonable choice for underwater photographers who need a powerful, controllable primary source and want the flexibility of a Goodman handle or a sidemount-compatible cable setup.

It is not a good fit for open-water recreational divers. The 7-degree beam is too narrow to be comfortable as a general-purpose light, the canister format adds complexity that open-water diving does not require, and the weight and size are unnecessary outside of overhead environments.

If you are a technical diver building out your primary light kit, the D630 V2.0 is a well-specified option. Confirm that the proprietary battery format works for your travel and backup plans before committing.
