DIVEIN's take
Why buy from Amazon?

Amazon has a documented Prime delivery program that covers millions of items, and that is the most concrete order-related support behind buying here.

Worth knowing

Some customers report slower replies or needing more follow-up than expected when they asked for help after ordering. If an order needs post-purchase support, that part of the experience is not always smooth.

Some customers also report delivery problems after ordering. That keeps follow-up and delivery as the areas to watch if you place the order here.

DIVEIN's take
Why buy from House of Scuba?

House of Scuba publishes a defined return process for eligible items, including when credit or a refund applies and where fees or exclusions can affect the outcome. If you want the retailer's own terms in place before ordering, that is the most concrete reason to buy here.

It also states a continental U.S. free-shipping offer with exclusions, so the order terms are not left entirely to guesswork. That does not guarantee every item qualifies, but the policy itself is part of the buying case.

Worth knowing

Some customers describe friction around returns or refunds, and some also report slower replies or needing extra follow-up when they asked for help after ordering. Read the return terms closely before placing the order, especially the condition, packaging, and fee limits that can change the result.

Quick Facts About Evac Lightweight Compression Dry Bag

  • A roll-top dry bag that compresses soft gear without a purge valve, keeping things simple and light.
  • The eVac® base fabric lets you push air out while blocking water, so compression works without any extra hardware.
  • Four straps with a mix of ladderlock and side-release buckles let you compress evenly and adjust quickly.
  • Main body is recycled 70D nylon with a 10,000mm hydrostatic head rating and taped, double-stitched seams throughout.
  • The non-wicking hypalon roll-top closure and a PFC-free DWR finish on both fabrics round out the waterproofing system.

Evac Lightweight Compression Dry Bag: A Roll-Top Dry Bag That Compresses Without a Valve

The Evac Lightweight Compression Dry Bag is a waterproof roll-top bag designed to compress soft gear, squeeze out the air, and keep everything inside completely dry.

If you are a kayaker, paddleboarder, or diver who packs and unpacks kit regularly and wants a dry bag that actually stays compact, this one is worth understanding properly before you buy.

The Core Idea: Air Out, Water Never In

Most compression dry bags need a purge valve to let air escape. Valves add weight, create a potential leak point, and eventually wear out.

The Evac solves this differently. The base panel is made from eVac fabric, a material that is waterproof but air-permeable. You press down on the bag, air passes out through the base, and water cannot travel back in the other way.

There is no valve to clean, replace, or worry about. That is a genuine practical advantage, not a marketing angle.

How the Compression Works

Four external straps run around the bag. Two use ladderlock buckles for fine adjustment, and two use side-release buckles for quick access.

The combination matters. Ladderlocks let you pull compression tight and even across the bag. Side-release buckles mean you are not fumbling with every strap when you need to get in quickly.

The result is a bag that compresses evenly rather than bulging at the sides, which makes it easier to fit into a hatch, a pannier, or a mesh pocket on a BCD (the vest-style buoyancy device divers wear).

Materials and Waterproofing

The main body is 70D recycled nylon with a PU coating rated to a 10,000mm hydrostatic head. That rating means the fabric can withstand a column of water 10 metres tall pressing against it before any moisture passes through. For surface water sports and dive boat use, that is a solid rating.

The seams are double-stitched and tape-sealed, which is the right construction for a bag claiming waterproof performance. Uncoated seams are the most common failure point on cheaper dry bags, so this detail matters.

Both fabrics carry a DWR finish (a water-repellent coating applied to the outer surface) that is C0 and PFC-free, meaning it does not rely on the fluorinated chemicals that have raised environmental concerns in outdoor gear.

The fabric itself is bluesign-approved recycled nylon, which means the manufacturing process has been independently assessed for environmental and chemical standards.

The Roll-Top Closure

The top seals with a roll-top closure, the kind where you fold the opening down several times and clip it shut. This is a proven waterproofing method that does not rely on a zip or gasket that can degrade.

The closure uses what the manufacturer calls a Field Repair Buckle, described as a patented design. The closure material is hypalon, a synthetic rubber that does not absorb water, so the seal point itself stays dry rather than wicking moisture inward over time.

Small Details That Help in Practice

The interior has a light-reflecting white coating. When you are digging through a dark hatch or a gear locker at the end of a dive day, being able to see what is inside without unpacking everything is a small but real convenience.

A nylon webbing handle sits on the oval base, giving you a secure grab point when the bag is packed and heavy.

Who This Bag Is and Is Not For

The Evac is well suited to anyone who needs dry, compact storage on the water: sea kayakers, paddleboarders, dive boat passengers, or multi-sport travellers carrying it across activities.

The compression function works on soft, compressible items: clothing, wetsuits, towels, sleeping kit. It will not compress rigid gear, and the straps will not do much for a bag packed with hard objects.

If you need full submersion protection at depth, note that this bag is built for surface water exposure and spray, not for being dropped overboard and recovered. The 10,000mm hydrostatic head rating covers normal paddling and boat conditions well, but it is not rated for sustained underwater pressure.

For divers specifically, this is a topside bag: ideal for keeping a dry change of clothes, a towel, or a wetsuit compressed in a dry state on the dive boat, not for taking underwater.
