Cayman Bronze – A Dive-Inspired Bronze Watch Built for Wear and Character

The Cayman Bronze is a Swiss-made dive watch from DELMA, built from genuine bronze and rated to 500 metres of water resistance. It draws its design from DELMA's skin diver watches of the 1970s and arrives as a limited edition of 999 pieces.

The Bronze Case and What It Means

The case is made from CUSN6 bronze, a tin-bronze alloy selected for its antimagnetic and corrosion-resistant properties.

The practical point about bronze that matters most: it develops a patina over time as it reacts to air, water, and skin contact. That patina is uneven, personal, and irreversible. Your Cayman will not look the same in two years as it does on day one, and that is exactly the point. If you want a case that stays polished and uniform, bronze is not the right material. If you want a watch that records its own history, it is.

Dial and Legibility

The dial has a black sand texture, which complements the natural, unfinished aesthetic of the bronze case.

Legibility is handled by Super-LumiNova C3 on the numerals, indexes, and hands. C3 is a high-brightness grade of photoluminescent material, meaning it charges quickly in light and gives a strong green glow in the dark. For a diver, that matters at depth where ambient light drops fast.

Bezel and Water Resistance

The bezel is unidirectional and rotating, the standard configuration for a dive watch. Unidirectional means it can only turn counterclockwise, so if it is knocked accidentally during a dive, the elapsed-time reading can only move in a direction that keeps you conservative, never one that makes you think you have more bottom time than you do.

Water resistance is rated to 500 metres (1,650 feet), which puts it well beyond recreational dive depths and into territory suitable for serious deep diving.

The Strap

The strap is a black hybrid Cordura rubber construction. Cordura is a durable woven fabric; the hybrid build combines that structure with rubber for flexibility and a secure fit against the wrist. It is designed to conform to the wrist rather than sit stiffly on top of it, which matters when you are wearing it over a wetsuit sleeve or for long periods.

It also uses quick-release spring bars, so you can swap the strap without tools. That is a genuinely useful detail if you plan to move between diving and everyday wear.

The Movement

The caseback is stainless steel with a central display window, through which you can see the DELMA customized movement with gold rotor. The movement is automatic, meaning it winds itself through wrist motion rather than requiring a battery.

Who This Watch Is and Is Not For

The Cayman Bronze is for someone who wants a dive-capable watch with genuine material personality. The bronze construction, the limited run, and the 1970s design reference are all deliberate choices, not incidental ones.

It is not for someone who wants a watch that looks the same every day. Bronze patinas in ways you cannot fully control or predict. It is also not a dive computer. It tracks elapsed time via the bezel, nothing more. If you need decompression tracking, nitrogen loading data, or air integration, you need a separate dive computer alongside it.
