Attention divers looking for a pair of high-performing fins that can be easily packed for the next diving adventure – Look no further than the ScubaPro Seawing Supernova fins.
These fins are best for divers that travel to dive destinations in both warm and cold waters. With the ability to detach the foot pocket from the blade, the Scubapro Seawing Supernova fins are always ready for your next great dive trip!
The Scubapro Seawing Supernova fins feature an open heel design with a bungee strap, allowing for ease of putting these fins on and taking them off when entering and exiting the water. The two-piece design is excellent for traveling, with the foot pocket separating for easy packing.
The quality and unique design gives the Scubapro Seawing Supernovas the ability to adjust to the divers kicking patterns and gives a diver the ability to have both maneuverability and power underwater.

Fin-tastic Diving Features:
The Scubapro Seawing Supernova fins are designed with both travel and efficient propulsion in mind.
We tested these fins out diving on the oil and gas platforms off Long Beach, California, alongside the Blue Latitudes Foundation as they shot 360 footage beneath the iron giants.
The Seawing Supernova performed well against the strong currents and surge typical of diving on California’s platforms AND were beloved by the resident California sea lions. The durability of these fins stood up against the nibbles of the sea lions who often play with divers.
As a high performance fin, the central panel was designed with unique auto-adjusting capabilities that allow the fin to adjust based on the strength of the kick – giving more power when needed.
Let’s dive into the features of the ScubaPro Seawing Supernova fins!
Strap
The strap of the Scubapro Seawing Supernova fins is a simple bungee design. Bungee straps are a feature seen in other Scubapro fins, like the Scubapro Seawing Nova fins, and remain a favorite among strap types.
The bungee design provides the ultimate ease of wear by making it easy to put these fins on while standing at the back of a boat and easy to take off before climbing the dive ladder.
The bungee strap has been updated in the Seawing Supernovas to allow for micro-adjustments so that the open-heel design can accommodate different boot types. This makes the adjustability of the boot fit comparable to buckle straps without the hassle of having to worry about unclipping your fins at the back of the boat.
Just grab onto the back of the strap, give the strap a pull to slip the fins off, and you are ready to climb the ladder!
Blade
Perhaps the most exciting feature of the Scubapro Seawing Supernova fins is their novel two-piece design. The blade and foot pocket detach making it an excellent choice for divers traveling to their next dive destination.
The two-piece design also allows for an optional full foot pocket to be used, giving this fin the ultimate versatility in design. A multi-purpose tool is included to assemble and disassemble the fins.
Our team diver, who took these out to the rigs in California, is an avid user of the Scubapro Seawing Nova fins and noted key differences and similarities between the two styles.
The design of the blade is similar in the Scubapro Seawing Nova and provides comparable power and maneuverability while diving. One key difference is the flexibility felt by the blade while kicking against the current.
The Scubapro Seawing Supernova fin blade provides a little more feeling of ‘give’ when swimming against the current or during periods of powerful kicking compared to the Nova fins, or more traditional fin styles. This flexibility felt during powerful thrusts takes some getting used to, but after getting a feel of the fins becomes a natural feeling underwater.
Color and Accessories:
The Scubapro Seawing Supernova fins only come in two colors: black and white. Unlike the Scubapro Seawing Nova fins, which come in a variety of colors. However, if you wish to add some color to your Supernovas, skegs in multiple color options can be purchased as an accessory.
Accessories for the Seawing Supernova fins include: full foot pockets, replacement bungee fin straps, modular fin system lock plate set, modular fin system multi-tool, and skegs featuring multiple color options.
Because of the two-piece design, the full foot pockets can be purchased and swapped out interchangeably with the open pocket design – making these fins customizable for both warm and cold water diving.
Price/quality ratio:
These fins are worth the price tag for divers that are looking for a fin that adjusts alongside their diving. These are perfect if you frequently dive in variable conditions or who want a packable set of fins for travel.
These fins are on the more expensive side and are designed for high-performance, so may not be the best choice for divers who typically only dive in zero to low current, or snorkelers.
Do we recommend them:
Yes, we definitely recommend these fins for divers that want a pair of fins that match the versatility in the types of dives they do, be it cold or warm water diving.
The design of the fins allows for efficient kicking when diving in strong currents and is comparable in quality, power, and control as another DIVEIN favorite, the Scubapro Seawing Nova fins. One of our favorite features of this fin is the bungee strap, which takes the stress out of putting these fins on or taking them off while diving from a boat.
However, the highlight of these fins, in our opinion, is the functionality of the two-piece design. This feature not only makes these fins easy to pack, but also allows the diver to customize their fins to accommodate an open foot pocket or closed foot pocket (optional add-on).
The Scubapro Seawing Supernova fins make us want to start planning our next dive adventure!
One of our DIVEIN divers tested the Scubapro Seawing Supernova fins on a dive on platforms Ellen, Elly, and Eureka off of Long Beach, California in collaboration with the Blue Latitudes Foundation. The Blue Latitudes Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Their mission is to elevate the traditional concept of ocean stewardship by uniting government, industry, and the community to work together to conserve our oceans! In doing so, this foundation strives to explore innovative solutions to traditional marine conservation challenges. Check out the 360 footage collected on the California platform dive.
