TUSA RD-2 Roller Duffle Bag: A Large-Format Wheeled Gear Bag Built for Dive Travel

The TUSA RD-2 is a wheeled duffle bag designed to carry a full set of dive gear through airports, ferry terminals, and onto liveaboards.

If you travel with dive equipment regularly, you already know the problem: dive gear is bulky, oddly shaped, and often still damp. This bag is built around that reality.

Size and Capacity

At 28" x 18" x 14" (71 x 46 x 36 cm) and 115.6 liters of volume, the RD-2 sits in large-bag territory.

That is enough room to pack a wetsuit, BCD, regulator, fins, mask, and still have space for clothes and a spare layer. If you are the kind of diver who travels with a full kit rather than renting locally, that volume matters.

Worth knowing: the manufacturer does not specify the empty weight of the bag itself. If you are flying with a strict checked-baggage weight limit, you will want to weigh the bag before you pack it.

How the Bag Is Laid Out

The main compartment opens on a wide U-shaped top zip, which makes loading bulky items straightforward. You are not wrestling fins through a narrow slot.

Beyond the main compartment, the RD-2 has three additional pockets:

• Outer side pocket with a dual-slider zip and pull tabs, useful for items you need to reach quickly at check-in or on the boat.
• End pocket with a single-slider zip, good for smaller items you want separated from the main load.
• Small top pocket with a dual-slider zip, handy for documents, cards, or a dive knife you want close at hand.

All main zippers run dual sliders with pull tabs, which makes opening and closing easier when your hands are cold or wet.

Keeping Gear in Place

Two external compression straps with squeeze-style side-release buckles run across the outside of the bag. These let you cinch the bag down if it is not fully packed, which stops gear from shifting during transit. They are also useful for securing the bag if a zipper ever gives you trouble on the road.

Water Resistance

The RD-2 is made from nylon fabric with a water-resistant back. This is not a waterproof bag, so it will not keep the inside dry if submerged or left in standing water. What it does do is resist incidental moisture, which is useful when you are loading gear on a wet dive boat or leaving the bag on a damp dock.

If you regularly pack wet gear, a separate dry bag or a heavy-duty liner inside the main compartment is still a good habit.

Moving Through Terminals and Onto Boats

The RD-2 is built to roll. It has a reinforced telescopic pull handle and smooth-gliding wheels designed for hard floors in airports, train stations, and bus terminals.

For the moments when rolling is not practical, such as lifting onto a dive boat, loading into a car boot, or stacking in an overhead hold, the bag has top and end grab handles. Having both orientations covered is genuinely useful when someone else is on the other end helping you lift.

Who This Bag Suits

The RD-2 is a solid choice if you:

• Travel with your own full dive kit and want to check it as a single bag
• Do multi-day or liveaboard trips where you need room for both dive gear and personal kit
• Move through airports often and want wheels rather than a backpack-style haul

It is not the right pick if you need a carry-on or a compact bag for short day trips. At 115.6 liters, this is firmly a checked-luggage bag. It also does not have a hard shell, so it offers no crush protection for fragile items like dive computers or regulators. Pack those in a padded case inside, or position them in the center surrounded by softer gear.
