Construction: Why the Materials Actually Matter Here

Oceanic based the Oceansport on their Oceanpro BC, a model with a long reputation in commercial diving environments.

The air cell is made from fadeless 420 denier nylon with RF-welded seams. Radio frequency welding fuses the seam material together under heat and pressure rather than stitching it, which removes the needle holes that stitched seams create and produces a stronger, more water-resistant join.

Any point on the jacket that takes abrasion, the shoulder panels and pocket areas, is covered in 800 denier ballistic nylon. That is a noticeably heavier fabric than the air cell material, chosen specifically for the spots that scrape against tank valves, boat gunwales, and pool edges day after day.

Both fabrics are described as fadeless and resistant to UV and chlorine. For a rental operation cycling gear through saltwater, pool training, and outdoor storage, that resistance to color degradation is a practical consideration, not just cosmetic. It also makes it easier to identify sizes at a glance when gear is racked in a rental room.

Fit and Sizing

These serve two purposes: they automatically vent air if the cell over-pressurizes (a safety function), and they can be manually pulled to dump air from different positions, which matters when you are ascending at an angle and the air has shifted to one part of the cell.

Storage and Pockets

The Oceansport includes pockets designed with rental and training use in mind:
