Reading Targets on the Display

The Equinox 600 uses a Target ID number displayed on an LCD screen. Target ID assigns a numerical value to a detected object based on its conductivity, which gives you a way to estimate what you are likely digging before you commit to the hole. Higher numbers generally indicate higher-conductivity metals like silver coins. Lower numbers tend to point toward low-conductivity targets or common trash like iron.

The display is designed so the numbers are large and readable at a glance, which matters when you are moving through a site and making quick decisions.

Audio and Headphones

Wired headphones are included in the box. The detector is also Bluetooth compatible, which supports high-speed audio operation. If you need to search at scuba diving depths, the 10-foot submersion limit rules this detector out. It is built for shallow water work, not open-water dives.

And if you are a highly experienced detectorist chasing very specific technical performance, you may find the Equinox 800 (Minelab's higher-tier model in the same family) offers additional controls worth considering. The 600 covers the fundamentals well, but it does not expose every adjustable parameter that the 800 does.
