If you plan to do any color correction after the dive, 10-bit footage gives you significantly more latitude to recover reds and warm tones than standard 8-bit video. GoPro includes a LUT (lookup table) for GP-Log footage, which simplifies the correction process in compatible editing software.

Slow Motion

The HERO13 Black can slow footage down to 13x normal speed. For marine life, this is genuinely useful: fish fin movements, jellyfish pulses, and current effects that look ordinary at normal speed become compelling at high slow-motion rates. You can also record 4x slow-motion clips at the full 5.3K resolution.

The Memory Card: Why This One Works

The SanDisk Extreme 64GB card is a legitimate match for this camera, not a filler inclusion.

The V30 and U3 ratings mean the card can sustain the write speeds that 4K and 5.3K recording demand without dropping frames. A slower card would be a genuine problem at high resolutions. This one is not a concern.
