The EEZYCUT Trilobite is not a dive knife. It is a single-purpose emergency cutting tool designed to slice through line, rope, or nylon webbing quickly, safely, and with one hand if needed.

What It Does and How It Works

The Trilobite cuts by trapping a line in a recessed groove along either side of the tool and pulling. There is no exposed blade to fumble with, no sheath to open under stress.

That groove design is the whole point. In a genuine entanglement, your hands may be shaking, visibility may be low, and you may only have one free hand. A tool that cuts by pulling a line into a slot is far easier to use in that moment than a knife you have to aim and drag across a cord.

The tool is rated to cut line up to 8mm (0.31 inches) in diameter, and can handle up to 12mm (0.47 inches) in practice. That covers the vast majority of monofilament, braided fishing line, thin rope, and nylon webbing you are likely to encounter on a recreational dive.

The Blade

The cutting blades are made from 440A stainless steel, a grade chosen for corrosion resistance in saltwater. This matters because a blade that pits or rusts becomes less reliable exactly when you need it most.

A replacement set of blades is included in the box. Swapping them out requires only basic tools, so you are not stuck retiring the whole unit when the edge dulls. That said, blades do dull over time, especially if you are diving frequently in salt water, so it is worth inspecting them periodically.

The Harness Mount and Pouch

The Trilobite comes with a nylon pouch that mounts directly onto standard 2-inch (5.1cm) nylon webbing. That width matches the webbing on most BCDs, weight belts, and dive harnesses, so no adapter or extra hardware is needed.

Placement matters with an emergency tool. Mount it somewhere you can reach with either hand without looking. Common choices include the shoulder strap or lower chest strap of your BCD.

Color Options

The Trilobite is available in four color combinations:

• All black
• Yellow and black
• Orange and black
• Orange and yellow

If there is any chance a buddy might need to locate this tool on you quickly, the high-visibility orange or yellow options are the more practical choice.

Build and Origin

The handle is plastic with steel screws. The overall tool is compact and lightweight, which is part of why it works well as a permanent fixture on your BCD rather than something you pack and unpack.
