What "Frameless" Actually Means for You

Most masks have a rigid plastic frame that holds the lens separate from the skirt (the soft part that seals against your face). A frameless design removes that frame entirely.

On the F1, the silicone skirt bonds directly to the tempered glass lens. That removes bulk, reduces the distance between the glass and your eyes, and lets the whole mask fold flat.

Flat-folding matters more than it sounds. You can slip this mask into a BCD pocket (a buoyancy jacket pocket) or a small dry bag without worrying about it taking up awkward space. If you travel with your gear, that convenience adds up.

Fit and Seal

The skirt uses a double feathered edge, meaning the silicone at the contact points tapers thin rather than ending bluntly. A thinner edge conforms more easily to the contours of different face shapes, which generally improves the seal without needing a tight strap.

The strap buckles are molded directly into the skirt rather than attached to a separate frame. This keeps the sides of the mask flexible and reduces the number of hard parts pressing against your temples.

The strap itself is a wide split design, which spreads tension more evenly across the back of your head. That even tension helps maintain a consistent seal around the skirt rather than pulling one side tighter than the other.

Adjustment is handled through quick-adjust buckles on each side. You can dial in the fit without taking the mask off.

Low Volume: Why It Matters

Volume here refers to the air space inside the mask between the lens and your face. The F1 is a low-volume mask, which has two practical effects.

First, if water gets in (and at some point it will), clearing it takes less effort. You press the bottom of the frame against your face, exhale through your nose, and the water is pushed out. Less air space means less air needed to do that.

Second, if you snorkel deeper or freedive, equalizing the mask (adding a small puff of air through your nose to prevent the lens from pressing into your face as pressure increases) requires less air. That is easier on your lungs and more efficient at depth.

The Single Lens

The F1 uses one wide front lens rather than two smaller side-by-side lenses. A single lens gives you a broader horizontal field of view with no central divider interrupting your line of sight.

The lens is tempered glass, which is standard for quality masks. Tempered glass is significantly harder to scratch than plastic, and if it does break, it shatters into small blunt pieces rather than sharp shards.

One thing to note: because it is a single lens, prescription or corrective lens inserts are not compatible with the F1 the way they are with twin-lens masks. If you need vision correction underwater, a twin-lens mask is a better starting point.

Skirt Color Options

The F1 comes in multiple color choices, including an opaque skirt version.

Clear silicone skirts let light in from the sides, which can cause glare or reflections in certain conditions. An opaque skirt blocks that peripheral light. This matters most for underwater photographers who want consistent exposure, or for hunters (spearfishers) who prefer not to spook fish with light scatter.

If neither of those applies to you, either skirt color works fine for general snorkeling and recreational diving.

Who This Mask Is Not Ideal For

The F1 is sized for adults. It is not the right fit for children.
