Genesis RX Mask: Two-Window Recreational Dive Mask with Corrective Lens Support

The Genesis RX is a two-window, low-volume scuba mask built for recreational divers who want a reliable, comfortable fit and the option to dive with corrected vision.

The Fit

The skirt is made from liquid-injected crystal silicone, which is softer and more pliable than standard silicone. That matters because a mask seal lives or dies on how well the skirt conforms to your face.

The edge of that skirt is double-feathered, meaning it tapers to a very thin, flexible lip on both the inner and outer edge. This gives it more contact points against varied face shapes and reduces the pressure gaps that cause leaks.

The wide split-style strap works with the skirt to keep the mask seated evenly. A mask that sits flat against your face without pressure points is one you stop thinking about mid-dive.

Buckles and Nose Pocket

The RX uses ratcheting swivel buckles, which let you fine-tune strap tension with a simple click rather than wrestling with a sliding adjuster. Swivel buckles also allow the strap to angle naturally as it wraps around your head, reducing the chance of the mask pulling unevenly.

The nose pocket is positioned and sized so you can reach it with one hand, and it is accessible even in thick gloves. If you dive in cold water and wear 5mm or 7mm gloves, that is a practical detail worth noting. Equalizing your ears (pinching your nose and gently blowing to equalize pressure as you descend) becomes awkward with gloves on, and a poorly designed nose pocket makes it worse.

Lenses

Both lenses are tempered glass, which is standard for quality dive masks. Tempered glass resists scratching better than plastic and, importantly, shatters into small blunt pieces rather than sharp shards if it ever breaks.

The two-window design, one lens on each side of the nose bridge, gives you a wider horizontal field of view than a single-lens mask, while still keeping the lens close to your eyes for a low-volume frame.

Corrective Lenses: The Detail That Sets This Mask Apart

The Genesis RX is compatible with aftermarket diopter lenses. These are optical correction inserts that drop into the mask frame so you can dive without contact lenses.

Correction is available from -1.0 to -8.0 in -0.5 diopter increments, for the left or right lens independently. That range covers most common prescriptions for nearsightedness. You order each side separately, so if your left and right eyes differ (as most people's do), you can match each one.

Installation is straightforward, and the lenses are sold separately. If you have been squinting at your gauges or missing detail on the reef, this is the practical fix.

Note: the diopter system corrects for nearsightedness. If you need correction for astigmatism or farsightedness, check with your optician before assuming these inserts will work for your prescription.

If you have perfect vision and are not interested in corrective inserts, there is nothing wrong with this mask, but you would be paying for a feature you will not use. A simpler mask may serve you just as well.
