Quick Facts About Cressi Elettra BCD for Scuba Diving
- A jacket-hybrid BCD designed specifically for women who dive recreationally and want a close, comfortable fit.
- The shoulder straps, buckles, and self-pivoting waist band are all shaped to follow female body contours rather than adapted from a unisex cut.
- 33.7 lbs (15.3 kg) of lift across all sizes gives solid buoyancy control without oversizing the bladder.
- Integrated weight pockets hold up to 10 lbs (4.5 kg) each, and the Flat Lock release makes dropping weights quick and clean.
- Three dump valves, two at the shoulders and one rear lower, let you vent air in almost any position without hunting for a cord.
- The air-net lining, padded back plate, and Cordura 1500-D shoulder straps keep the BCD comfortable on long dives and durable over many seasons.
- Two zippered pockets and six stainless steel D-rings leave plenty of room to carry and clip accessories as your kit grows.

Track this priceCressi Elettra BCD: A Jacket-Style Buoyancy Compensator Designed for the Female Diver
The Cressi Elettra is a jacket-style hybrid BCD built specifically around the female body.
If you are a recreational diver who has been making do with a unisex BCD that never quite sat right on your shoulders or pinched at the waist mid-dive, this is the product worth looking at closely.
What "Hybrid Jacket" Means for You
A jacket-style BCD wraps the air bladder around your sides and back, which gives you stable, upright buoyancy at the surface and a familiar, supported feel in the water. Many women find a standard jacket BCD sits awkwardly because the shoulder straps, chest buckle, and waist band are all positioned for a broader, flatter torso.
The Elettra addresses this directly. The squeeze-style side-release buckles at the shoulder and waist are 40mm wide and positioned to follow a narrower, more curved frame. The lower shoulder strap anchors to a rotating ring rather than a fixed point, so the harness can pivot and follow your body's contours instead of fighting them.
The two-piece waist band runs on Cressi's Self Pivoting Waist Band (SPWB) system, a patented design that lets the band flex and conform as you move rather than riding up or gapping at the back.
Lift Capacity
The Elettra provides 33.7 lbs (15.3 kg) of lift across all sizes. That is a solid amount for recreational diving in a full wetsuit with a steel cylinder, and it does not drop off in smaller sizes the way some BCDs do. You get the same buoyancy reserve whether you dive in an XS or a larger size.
Integrated Weight System
The Cressi Flat Lock integrated weight system takes a weight bag in each hip pocket, with each pocket rated to hold up to 10 lbs (4.5 kg). The Flat Lock mechanism is designed so you can pull the bag free quickly and cleanly, which matters both for emergency weight drops at the surface and for easy post-dive unloading on a rocking boat.
Having weight built into the BCD removes the need for a separate weight belt, which many women find more comfortable and better distributed across the hips.
Bladder and Shell Construction
The air bladder is made from 420-denier nylon with radio frequency (RF) welded seams. RF welding bonds the material with heat rather than stitching, which creates a seam that does not leak along a thread line over time. The pockets and shoulder straps are made from Cordura 1500-denier fabric, a heavy-duty material that holds up well to repeated contact with boat decks, tank straps, and saltwater.
The inside of the BCD is lined with air-net material and padded more heavily than a standard unisex jacket, which improves comfort against your back and helps the BCD drain quickly after you surface.
Buoyancy Control and Dump Valves
You control inflation and deflation through Cressi's Next Generation Anatomical Power Inflator, connected via a 3/8-inch threaded quick-disconnect hose. The inflator includes a cable-activated pull dump valve so you can vent air from the low-pressure hose without reaching for a shoulder dump.
The Elettra also has three overpressure relief and dump valves:
- Left shoulder valve, operated by a pull cord.
- Right shoulder valve, also pull-cord operated, giving you options depending on your position in the water.
- Lower rear right valve, vented through the power inflator mechanism.
Three valves give you flexibility to dump air from whichever point is highest on your body, which matters when you are ascending feet-first or in an unusual position.
Back Plate and Travel
The back plate is soft, padded, and semi-rigid. It provides enough structure to keep the BCD stable on your back without the bulk of a hard plate. It also means the Elettra can be folded down for packing, which is useful if you travel frequently and want to keep your kit manageable in a dive bag.
Attachment Points and Storage
For accessories and instruments, the Elettra has:
- 6 stainless steel D-rings for clipping off a dive computer, surface marker buoy (SMB), or other accessories.
- 2 zippered pockets for storing a torch, slate, or small items you want secure during the dive.
The cylinder is held by two integrated cylinder supports, which help keep the tank from shifting and maintain a better trim position in the water.
Who This BCD Is Not For
The Elettra is designed for recreational diving. If you are moving into technical diving, diving with twin cylinders, or need a BCD with a rigid back plate and wing-style bladder, this is not the right tool. The jacket-hybrid design suits single-cylinder recreational profiles well, but it is not built around the trim or configuration needs of technical work.
It is also worth noting that the Elettra is sized and shaped for women. Male divers or divers who prefer a unisex fit will want to look elsewhere.
Sizing
The Elettra is available in multiple sizes. Cressi recommends checking their size guide before ordering, since the fit is intentionally cut close to the female frame. An owner's manual is included with the BCD.
