The Bare 7mm Reactive is a full-length men's wetsuit built for cold-water scuba diving. At 7mm thick, it is designed for the lower end of the temperature range where a wetsuit (rather than a drysuit) is still a practical choice.

If you dive in cooler waters and find yourself cutting dives short because you get cold before your air runs out, this suit was built with exactly that problem in mind.

What Makes the Reactive Different

Most wetsuits work by trapping a thin layer of water against your skin and letting your body warm it. The Reactive does that too, but the lining goes further.

The interior fabric contains Graphene OMNIRED Infrared Technology, which Bare describes as 13 thermo-reactive minerals woven into the lining. The idea is that these minerals absorb your body heat, convert it into infrared energy, and reflect it back toward your skin. Medical research has linked infrared exposure to improved circulation, and better circulation means your body delivers warmth more efficiently to your extremities.

In practical terms, the claim is that you stay warmer longer and recover faster between dives. That is a meaningful difference when you are doing multiple dives in a day in cold conditions.

Graphene itself is worth understanding. It is a single-atom-thick carbon structure, and at room temperature it is one of the most thermally conductive materials known. Bare uses that conductivity to help distribute heat across the lining rather than letting cold spots develop.

No-Stitch Construction

One of the most significant construction details on this suit is what is not there: traditional seam stitching.

Standard wetsuits are stitched at the seams, and stitching creates tiny holes. Cold water finds those holes. The Reactive uses Bare's No Stitch Technology (NST), where seams are glued and taped on both the inside and outside rather than sewn. That eliminates the needle perforations that allow water to seep through, which is a real advantage in cold water where every degree matters.

Taped seams also add durability. The bond is strong, and the tape protects the glued joint from stress and abrasion over time.

Neoprene and Flexibility

The suit is built from Elastek Full-Stretch nylon-2 neoprene. Nylon-2 means the neoprene has a nylon lining on both the inside and outside faces, which gives it stretch in all directions. At 7mm, some suits feel stiff and restrict your arm movement during the dive. The nylon-2 construction works against that, giving you a better range of motion for swimming and equipment handling.

The pattern is anatomically shaped for a three-dimensional fit, meaning the panels are cut to follow the contours of your body rather than laid flat. A suit that fits your actual shape rather than pulling and bunching keeps the neoprene in contact with your skin where it needs to be.

Getting In and Out

A 7mm suit can be a wrestle to put on and take off, especially at the end of a cold dive when your hands are less cooperative. Bare addressed this in a few ways.

• Back zipper: An extra-long 21-inch (53.3 cm) S-Lock2 zipper runs down the back. The tooth design is offset to reduce water entry, and the zipper tape is coated in polyurethane for additional water resistance. A double internal sealing flap sits behind the zipper for extra warmth.
• Zipper puller: A full-length puller with a silicone grip runs the length of the zipper, plus a grip tab at the base so you can fasten it yourself without a buddy.
• Ankle zippers: 11-inch (28 cm) heavy-duty ankle zippers let you open the lower legs wide when pulling the suit on over your feet, which is one of the spots where 7mm suits tend to fight back.
• Collar closure: A hook-and-loop adjustment at the collar lets you dial in the neck fit. A booklet-style cover protects the fastener from snagging on the suit material.

The underarms are seamless, which eliminates one of the most common comfort complaints in thick suits: the pressure and chafing that a seam creates exactly where your arm moves most.

Knee Protection

The Reactive uses Armor Flex 2.0 kneepads, a three-dimensional flexible panel that is both abrasion-resistant and durable. Knees take a beating when you are kneeling on a boat deck, climbing a ladder, or navigating a rocky shore entry. The kneepads protect the neoprene in the area that wears out fastest on most suits.

Who This Suit Is For

This is a suit for a recreational or more experienced diver who dives regularly in cold water and wants to push their bottom time and surface interval without switching to a drysuit.

At 7mm, it is built for genuinely cold conditions. If you dive in temperate or tropical water, this is more suit than you need and the extra thickness will work against your comfort and buoyancy control.

The infrared lining technology is the headline feature, but the NST seam construction and the donning hardware are the details that will matter to you dive after dive. A suit you can actually get into and out of on your own, that does not leak at the seams, and that keeps you warm through a second or third dive is worth paying attention to regardless of the newer technology.
