Mayan Divers, the resort’s PADI 5-Star Instructor Development Center, equips first timers, seasoned divers, and wannabe pros with everything needed for courses, day trips and deep-water explorations.The dive center was recently renovated to accommodate those with physical challenges, so all can enjoy Roatán’s underwater world. Mayan Divers is noted for its personalized service, knowledgeable staff, and small group sizes, giving its students and divers a constant sense of safety and confidence.
Adding to the sense of professionalism, Mayan Divers has a fleet of four dive boats, designed specifically for divers and snorkelers. Part of their custom-build is that they allow adaptive diving, with special beach wheelchairs to aid divers on board. The boats are moored up at the beach, so you can beeline for a beer as soon as you’re back on land.
The diving experience around Roatán is rich and varied, offering a mix of vibrant coral gardens, shipwrecks such as the El Aguila or the Odyssey, and thrilling encounters with marine life such as eagle rays. Seasonal migrations can also offer the rare chance to swim alongside majestic whale sharks, particularly between February and April. All of this combines to make Roatán a sought-after destination for divers.
The best conditions are typically May to September when the weather is calmer and underwater visibility is at its peak, often surpassing 100 feet (30 m). The Mayan Princess is a large resort with 60 rooms, which are split into eight different classifications of either one or two bedrooms and in two general locations, poolside or beachfront.
Keeping it simple is their smallest open-floor 225-square-foot deluxe studio, featuring a reasonably sized bathroom, a queen bed, a mini-fridge and coffee maker. There is also a poolside-facing terrace perfect for that morning joe or before-bed nightcap.
The next tier of rooms is the one-bedroom villas of 560-to-870 square-feet, accommodating two adults and two children. These include one king-size bed, a convertible queen-size sofa bed in the living room, and a dining room set for four guests. Families can take advantage of a fully functioning kitchen, which includes a fridge, electric stove, oven, and a coffee maker. All have a furnished balcony or patio, with pool or ocean views.
Finally, the two-bedroom villas range from 960 to 1390 square feet. The smallest is the family villa, which accommodates four adults or two adults and two children. The larger junior, poolside master, and beachfront master have two rooms and a sofa bed, fitting five adults or four adults and two children. These rooms also have fully equipped kitchens, furnished living rooms, and terraces.

Guests can choose between the all-inclusive family or premium plan, which offers unlimited food and drinks at either two or all four of the eateries. Casually nestled in between the resort and beachfront, Calkett restaurant has a cozy ambience and spectacular seafront views.
