Who this suits

Divers who want their air, their depth and their route on one screen, instead of a computer on one wrist and a console swinging off a hip D-ring. The Nautic runs single-gas and multi-gas modes and lists sidemount compatibility, so it covers air, nitrox and the sidemount rigs divers move into as they progress.

Suunto's own listing puts the skill range at beginner to advanced. Our read is narrower. A diver still in their first season will be paying for GPS, route tracking and gas switching they will not reach for until much later.

Skip it if you are running staged decompression on complex mixes. The rows on record describe a capable recreational computer with room to grow, not a technical one.

Up to 120 hours on a charge

120 hours is the number that decides trips. A week of liveaboard diving at four dives a day is somewhere around 25 to 30 hours of computer time, so the Nautic covers it with margin and you are not charging it every evening.

The listing does not break that figure down by mode, screen brightness or how hard you are running the GPS. Treat 120 hours as the best case rather than a promise for every dive.

An AMOLED screen and buttons that work in gloves

The display is AMOLED, described in the rows as bright and high-contrast. That is the practical gap between this and the monochrome screens still shipping on cheaper computers: black stays black, so the digits keep their edge in silt, in the green, and with the sun flaring off the surface above you.

The controls are physical buttons, sized for gloved hands. Touchscreens get unreliable once they are wet and under pressure, and thick gloves make that worse. Buttons you can find by feel are the right call on an instrument you read mid-dive.

What it watches: air, route and heading

Wireless tank pressure monitoring puts your remaining gas on the same screen as your depth and your no-stop time. One glance instead of two, and nothing to unclip and hold up to your mask.

One thing the listing does not settle: whether a tank transmitter is included. Wireless air integration needs a transmitter on the first stage, and it is often sold on its own. Check the retailer's page before you count on the feature working out of the box.

Beyond air, the Nautic carries GPS, underwater route tracking and a compass. The compass is the one you will use most, for a heading back to the shot line without surfacing to look for the boat. Route tracking is the one you will show people afterwards.

The LED flashlight is built into the body rather than clipped to it. It is a convenience light for looking under a ledge or reading a gauge, not a stand-in for a primary torch on a night dive.

The bungee mount

This page covers the Nautic with the bungee cord mount. Bungee sits the computer flat over a wetsuit or drysuit sleeve, and it does not creep down your forearm the way a strap can once the suit compresses at depth. If you want a conventional strap version, that is a different listing.

The bottom line

A well-specified recreational computer: AMOLED, up to 120 hours, wireless air, GPS, underwater route tracking, a compass and a built-in light, on a bungee mount. Buy it if you want one instrument doing all of that and you expect to grow into multi-gas and sidemount.

It is not a technical computer, and it is not the cheap way to get depth and time on your wrist. If you need a first computer for a few holiday dives a year, you will use a fraction of this and pay for all of it.
