Between the varying budgets, different wish lists, and the eternal debate between the divers and the non-divers over how to spend the afternoon, planning a group trip can turn into a giant headache.

But with a variety of villa options, an on-site SSI Diamond dive operation, and a full concierge menu of above-water adventures, Infinity Bay Spa & Beach Resort on Roatan’s West Bay is one of those rare resorts that suits a group of eight just as well as it does a couple. Here’s what to know before you start the group chat about your next dive trip.

A Reef at Your Doorstep

Infinity Bay is located on Roatán’s West Bay Beach.

Not every dive resort can claim the reef is genuinely sitting right on its doorstep. At Infinity Bay, that easy access is one of the core reasons groups keep coming back.

The resort sits directly on West Bay Beach, with a private pier out front and one of the closest sections of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef to the shoreline anywhere on the island. For a group with mixed experience levels, that geography means days can easily unfold in a variety of ways to suit everyone in the group.

“Infinity Bay offers an exceptional location for both divers and snorkelers, with easy access to vibrant marine life just steps from the shore,” says Claudio Monesi, Dive Operations Manager.

In practice, that means a certified diver and a first-time snorkeler can walk out of the same villa, head in the same direction, and both have a great morning.

The Villa Setup: Room to Spread Out

A range of rooms and villas can accommodate couples all the way up to groups of eight.
Big kitchens and living rooms are great for shared meals and large groups.

Most group travel problems come down to accommodation. Separate hotel rooms means too much time at the check in desk, too many different views, and no central place to gather at the beginning and end of the day. Infinity Bay’s suite-and-villa structure solves that problem from the start.

The two-bedroom villas, at around 1,000 square feet, sleep up to five guests across two queen bedrooms and a sleeper sofa. For larger groups, the three-bedroom pool and beachfront villas step up to around 2,500 square feet with three king bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a sleeper sofa, comfortably sleeping eight.

Every villa comes with a full kitchen, a dining area, and a private veranda or balcony, which means the group has a proper home base rather than just a collection of adjacent rooms.

Guests can enjoy food and drink either around the pool or at the beachfront.
Dishes at their eateries range from international dishes to Caribbean classics.

The kitchen setup is especially useful for groups that want flexibility. Grab groceries, stock the fridge with local fruit and cold drinks and turn some meals into casual, at-home affairs. When you want a proper dinner together, La Palapa Beach Bar and Grill or the International Buffet are right onsite. For dive groups especially, this mix of independence and ease is exactly the combination that keeps a week feeling relaxed rather than overscheduled.

Infinity Divers: Built for Group Operations

Get up close and personal with lots of marine life on Roatan dives.
Infinity Divers runs three boats, so there are options for every dive group.
Seahorses are common on Roatan reefs.
Swim-throughs make for great photo opportunities.

Infinity Divers Aqua Center is an SSI Diamond shop operating directly on-site. Instructors are all PADI certified, so the shop can run PADI courses as well. For group trips, the logistics matter nearly as much as the diving itself, and Infinity Divers is set up to handle volume without losing the personal touch that makes a trip special.

The center runs three boats, one accommodating up to 54 divers, so a large group can dive together without getting split up or anyone having to sit out. Boats accommodate 22, 18, and 14 divers respectively, so there’s one to suit any group size. The team’s years of experience mean the operation runs smoothly, with dedicated valet service and well-maintained rental gear for those who travel light.

The resort’s pool doubles as a place to train and learn new scuba skills.

For groups with mixed certification levels, the full SSI curriculum is available on-site, from Bubblemaker and Try Scuba sessions all the way through Advanced Open Water and specialty certifications like Wreck Diving and Nitrox.

The resort’s position on the reef is a genuine advantage for group logistics. “Guests have the unique opportunity to access the reef either directly from the beach or by boat, providing flexibility and convenience for divers of all experience levels,” says Claudio.

That flexibility means the group doesn’t have to move in lockstep. Experienced divers can head out for an early two-tank boat trip to West End Wall or the El Aguila wreck while newer divers ease in from the beach at Mandy’s Eel Garden, and everyone meets up in time for lunch.

Dive packages are available for groups and can be arranged directly with the dive center. Night dives and the resort’s signature shark dive, with female Caribbean reef sharks in their natural habitat, are available as add-ons and tend to become the highlight of any group itinerary.

For the Non-Divers: More Than an Afterthought

Infinity Bay offers snorkeling trips around the local reef and neighboring islands.

The most common friction point in any mixed group trip is the moment the divers disappear underwater and the non-divers are left to figure out the day on their own. At Infinity Bay, that problem doesn’t exist.

Snorkeling is the obvious starting point, and West Bay’s access makes it genuinely exceptional rather than just convenient. The Mesoamerican Barrier Reef sits right off the beach, making it easy to slip into the water and find yourself among hard corals and reef fish without a boat ride or a guide.

For those who want to push it further, night snorkeling is one of the resort’s standout experiences. “It offers the opportunity to observe a fascinating variety of fish, crustaceans, and mollusks that are rarely seen during daylight hours,” says Claudio, with bioluminescent organisms creating a magical underwater environment.

For group members curious about diving but not yet certified, beginner-friendly Discover Scuba and Basic Diver sessions can be conducted directly from the beach, offering a low-pressure introduction to scuba in calm, shallow water with immediate access to the reef.

Consider horseback riding for a unique way to tour the island.

Beyond the water, Infinity Bay’s concierge arranges a solid menu of excursions: sport fishing charters, catamaran tours, parasailing, canopy ziplining, animal encounters, and day trips across the island. The resort’s guided “Discover Roatan” tour, which takes guests from West Bay to Oak Ridge by air-conditioned vehicle and water taxi, with stops at the Chocolate Museum and West End, is a good all-group option for a non-dive day.

Tranquility Spa and the Athletic Club: Recovery Done Right

Tranquility Spa offers a range of classic treatments, such as manicures or facials.

Diving is physical, and a week of two-tank mornings will eventually start to take its toll. Tranquility Spa is one of Infinity Bay’s best group-trip amenities, partly because it’s a treat for divers and non-divers alike, and partly because the experience is a step above the typical resort spa.

The treatment menu covers massage therapy, facials, manicures, and pedicures, with a lounge and herbal teas built into the visit. For something more memorable, the spa offers bookings on the resort’s catamaran massage boat: an on-the-water treatment that makes for an easy activity on the group’s topside day.

Their on-site gym is well equipped with a range of weights and machines.

The Roatan Athletic Club keeps the fitness-focused members of the group happy with a full equipment lineup: treadmills, ellipticals, weight machines, and optional sessions with a certified trainer. Pool-based yoga and aqua fitness classes run throughout the week.

Planning the Trip

Infinity Bay offers group discounts on room rates, which should be discussed with the reservations team early in the planning process, especially for parties booking multiple villas or a large block of rooms. The earlier the inquiry, the better the options, since the resort books up particularly around peak Caribbean travel periods.

For dive groups, the structured dive packages (which include accommodation, boat dives, and daily breakfast) can simplify the budgeting conversation, since everyone is working from the same base cost. Night dives and the shark dive are priced separately, so it’s worth building those into the group budget upfront if there’s interest. The shark dive in particular tends to sell out.

Beautiful coral reef systems and shipwrecks are all accessible with Infinity Divers Aqua Center.

The resort’s concierge is the right first call for coordinating group excursions, transportation, and any special requests. Infinity Bay’s airport shuttle service is included in stays, but for larger groups arriving on different flights, confirm logistics in advance.

West Bay is walkable and low-key, with a handful of bars and independent restaurants a short stroll from the resort’s entrance for groups that want to explore in the evenings. The resort itself gives you more than enough reason to stay put, but it’s good to know the option is there.
