the liveaboard MY Genesis 1 anchored beside a forested island in Thailand
Anchored yards from the beach like this, Genesis 1 trades long crossings for island-hopping between dive sites.

Genesis I anchors close to shore between dives, giving guests quick tender access to Thailand's Andaman Sea dive sites.
coral bommie covered in sea anemones and soft coral with schooling fish overhead at Anemone Reef
Anemone Reef is a signature stop on Genesis I's itinerary, a pinnacle blanketed in anemones and soft coral that draws big schools of fish.
M/Y Genesis 1 liveaboard cruising with divers relaxing on the rear dive platform
The open stern platform and dual ladders make it easy for divers to gear up and slip straight into the water.
Bow of the Genesis 1 liveaboard with traditional Thai ribbons tied to the mast
Those colorful ribbons on the bow are a traditional blessing for safe passage, a common sight on Thai dive boats.
Divers seated on Genesis 1's twin stern dive platforms with tanks racked and ready
Two separate ladders and platforms let divers get in and out without queuing, handy when a full boat is kitting up at once.
Made up bunk in a Genesis 1 cabin with a fresh orchid resting on the pillow
A fresh orchid on the pillow is a small touch, but it is the difference between a liveaboard cabin and a plain bunk to crash in between dives.
Camera charging station aboard Genesis 1 with dive housings and multiple power strips for gear
Dedicated bench space and several power strips mean underwater photographers are not fighting over one wall socket between dives.
Divers relaxing on Genesis 1's dive deck with gear stowed and jungle coastline behind
Gear gets its own storage right by the water entry, so nobody has to haul kit across the boat between dives.
Divers in wetsuits chatting beside nitrox tanks on Genesis 1's dive deck
Nitrox tanks are marked apart from air tanks, a small detail that matters when a full group is suiting up for the same dive.
Zebra shark resting on the sandy seabed at Koh Phi Phi West
Zebra sharks spend most of the day motionless on the sand and only really get moving once the sun goes down, so a close pass rarely spooks them.
Guests sharing a meal at the dining table aboard Genesis 1
Meals are served family style at one long table, the kind of setup that turns strangers into a dive group by day two.
Zebra shark cruising the reef beneath a school of yellow fish
A patch of red sea fan and a passing school of fish are reminders these reefs stay busy even when the shark itself is not moving.
Guests reading and relaxing at the lounge table on Genesis 1 at dusk
Evenings on board mean logging the day's dives and swapping stories at the same table everyone ate lunch at.
Sunbathers relaxing on cushioned mats on Genesis 1's bow deck, open water ahead
The bow doubles as a sunbathing deck between dives, plenty of room to stretch out while the boat is under way.
