All the Yoga Pants We've tested
The Manduka Evolve Leggings were a fast favorite of ours that seemed to check every box. Between the thoughtful design of the minimal seems, the butter-soft but still durable material, and the lightweight breathability, it is clear that these were dreamed up with yogis in mind.
As we mentioned, these leggings are nearly perfect, with only a couple downsides worth mentioning. Sitting at $85, they are definitely towards the top of the price spectrum, which can be fairly inaccessible for some. Additionally, the material of these leggings seems to be a bit of a lint and pet hair magnet, making them a harder sell for pet owners.
The Manduka Evolves really won our hearts, and we definitely think they are worth the investment and having to stock up on lint rollers. Read the full review to see just what makes them so wonderful.

Our Overall Review
We have thoroughly tested - and read reviews from other experts and users. In summary, this is what we think:
Things we like:
-
High Quality materials and construction
-
Leggings stay in place
-
Very comfortable – feels like nothing
-
No front seam thus eliminating cameltoe
-
Brand actively tries to decrease their environmental impact
Things we don't like:
-
Luxury price point
-
A magnet for lint and pet hair
-
One option of 25” inseam
If you’re on a tight budget but will not, under any circumstances, sacrifice comfort, we’d like to introduce you to Yogalicious. Ringing in at just $35, somehow, these are some of the softest pants we’ve tried.
The Nude Tech High Waist Yogalicious Leggings became a favorite of ours based on comfort, but there’s more they bring to the table. The flattering cut and trendy color selection rank these fairly high in terms of style, and the fabric itself, while thin, remains opaque even when stretched. Light compression gives you a barely-there hug and gives you support in all the right spots.
While these are incredibly comfortable, and we recommend them for lounging or light exercise, these leggings are certainly not for everyone. With the thin material, these pants don’t give the best cellulite coverage, nor are they the best for wicking sweat. Additionally, we have concerns about the long-term performance of this garment, as it is very thin and seems prone to pilling.
The last thing to be aware of for pet owners especially, these are a bit of a lint and hair magnet. If you have pets, we definitely recommend trying a different fabric unless you have your lint roller handy.
If you’re searching for value and comfort, these are a great option for you. Check out our full review.

Only one option for inseam; not ideal for particularly tall or short women
Halara has taken off as a popular activewear and lifestyle brand, producing flattering and functional activewear for an accessible price. Much like their popular Cloudful legging, the Super Flares are also a top seller thanks to their lengthening fit and fun, vintage vibe – not to mention their accessible $30 price point.
Their attention to detail is comparable to that of Lululemon or Manduka, with more of a focus on style and fit than high-performance. It’s clear that a lot of thought was put into the construction of the garment, with the slimming crossover waistband, the tapered back seams, the lengthening flared bottoms, and the full coverage, lightweight material. We have mentioned that Halara is woman-owned, but it really goes without saying once you try these on.
These are a really trendy option and one of the more style-forward yoga pants on the market. Our only criticism is the front panel middle seam, which could make the dreaded camel toe more of an issue. We’ve gotten very used to styles like the Manduka Evolves or the Halara Cloudfuls with a seamless front panel, which would have made these just about perfect.

Needs more inseam options
The Gym People high waist leggings are a great option for gym go-ers, weightlifters, and runners. Featuring great coverage and functional pockets, and they can keep up with your pace in terms of breathability and durability.
While these leggings are fairly highly rated on Amazon, there are a few glaring issues that we noticed. First and foremost, the listed fabric blend on the product description is different from that of the leggings received. Upon further inspection, we came across several reviews on Amazon saying the fabric makeup is different on the different color options. This makes it impossible to know exactly what you are getting while you’re shopping.
Additionally, the pants tend to slide down with movement, especially with anything of substantial weight in the pockets. While these leggings are a decent option for the gym and a top pick for runners, we are hesitant to endorse them as a result of their inconsistencies. Read our full review to make an informed purchase.

Not the most comfortable
When we first pulled the Butterluxe Lounge Leggings out of the package, the fabric immediately reminded us of the Yogalicious Nude Techs or the old Lululemon Aligns in hand feel and brushed finish.
They are incredibly soft, and the light compression gives the sensation that you’re wearing nothing. If nothing more, these are comfortable.
These yoga pants are very highly rated on Amazon, but a few issues quickly rose to the top of customer reviews. Leggings this soft are always going to have some issues with pilling, and these are no exception. Several reviews also complain of sliding down during exercise and showing sweat.
That being said, you really can’t beat the price for how soft they are. If you’re looking for a pair of yoga pants to hit the grocery store or lounge around the house, these are a great option. Otherwise, we recommend trying out some heavier duty options like The Athleta Salutations or The Gym People yoga pants.

Girlfriend Collective is the poster child for sustainability in activewear, but thankfully never at the price of quality or performance. The Girlfriend Collective Compression Pocket Leggings are highly compressive, moisture wicking, full coverage leggings, with a pet-friendly spandex-like finish that are ready to work as hard as you do.
While these are made with performance in mind, many reviews claim the waistband tends to slide down with activity, even when sizing down. Given this information, these might be better suited for gym-centric workouts as opposed to long distance running or a fast, flowing yoga.
These ring in at $88 full price, but are available for $70 on Amazon. These are not the cheapest, nor the most expensive leggings, but Girlfriend Collective sure packs a punch with their ethics and sustainability. We think it’s worth the price if we’re fairly compensating workers, saving the world and getting some cool yoga pants out of it.
Specs & Features
- Best Suited for: High-impact activities like running, Bikram or Vinyasa
- Material: Made from 79% recycled plastic bottles (RPET) and 21% spandex

Lululemon is now a household name, and for good reason – they have truly set the standard for quality in the yoga pants game. These leggings were made for yoga.
With a near perfect balance of stretch and compression, the Aligns will hug you in all the right spots and move with you everywhere else. The Nulu™ fabric they use is durable and opaque yet somehow remains breathable and lightweight.
While the price point is one of the highest out there, it is perhaps justified by their impeccable quality and customer service. Spending over $100 on a pair of leggings may seem ridiculous until you consider their Quality Promise, where they guarantee, “If our product doesn’t perform for you, we’ll take it back.”
This applies to garments that have worn, torn, pilled, or have been in any way unsatisfactory. So sure, $100 is steep for one pair of yoga pants, but it’s a great deal if you know you’ll never have to replace them.
With only a couple of glaring imperfections like their falling/bunching waistband or the pesky pilling issue, these leggings are one of our favorites on the market.
Dive into our in-depth review to find out why we think they’re worth the hype and the price tag.

Halara is quickly gaining popularity as an activewear and lifestyle brand, delivering stylish and functional activewear for an accessible price. The Halara Cloudful Crossover Pocket Plain Leggings are the best selling item on their website, and for good reason. These leggings are some of the most flattering leggings we’ve tried.
Many of the thoughtful details were a dead giveaway that this company is woman-owned. Between the slimming crossover waistband, the seamless front panel, and the booty-friendly tapered seams, it’s clear that these yoga pants were made by and for women.
These leggings bring more to the table than just style. The material, while soft, is still breathable, moisture-wicking, and resistant to pilling. Our only criticism is the waistband tends to slide down a bit during activity, but sizing down would likely help with this issue.
These yoga pants are just as good as some of the $100+ pairs like the Lululemon Aligns, Athleta Salutations or the Manduka Evolves – but Halara did it for under $30.

The Athleta Salutation Stash Tights certainly live up to the brand’s quality standards. While they are not particularly soft upon first inspection, when you slide them on, the generous stretch gives a nice little hug and the material softens up a bit.
The compression is fairly gentle with the exception of the thick waistband which provides some really nice tummy control. The fabric is a bit thin, especially when stretched, but these leggings still pass the squat test.
In addition to being an ethical brand in terms of sustainability and labor, this brand is also making strides towards inclusivity.
The Salutation yoga pants come in several inseam options for tall and petite women, as well as sizing from XXS to 3XL. These leggings are great for tummy control and cellulite coverage, and the thick compressive waistband is sure to keep them in place on even your toughest workouts.

Beyond Yoga is one of the more reputable yoga brands, trusted by yogis and instructors alike. Their signature spacedye material is one of the highest quality materials out there, albeit one of the warmer ones. The leggings feature a four way stretch, medium compression and a couple thigh pockets deep enough to swallow the largest smartphone you can find.
The Beyond Yoga Spacedye Midi Leggings are high quality, and fairly high performing, but what really caught our attention was the luxurious comfort they had to offer. The spacedye material is incredibly soft, and the medium compression is the perfect, light hug. The material is thick, making them an amazing option for cold winter months.
One of our favorite features of the Beyond Yoga Pants is the variation of color in the spacedye pattern, as it camouflages cellulite and even sweat. The fabric is soft, high performing and is even washer and dryer safe. These are the best leggings out there for cellulite coverage and laundry day.

Alo is a trend-forward yoga company – as they proclaim on their site, “it always starts with fashion.” The brand at large has adopted the Los-Angeles-Yogi market space, with their website featuring photos of influencers like Hailey Bieber and Bella Hadid sporting their gear.
Sharing a similar luxury price point to Lululemon, these Airbrush leggings can ring in around $100. While these leggings are certainly fashionable, in comparison to the Lululemon High Rises the quality of these leggings doesn’t quite justify the cost. The care and quality of construction along with the lifetime warranty on the Lululemons are what justify the price tag, of which Alo has neither.
What these leggings bring to the table in terms of style, they are equally lacking in quality, performance and comfort. Many reviews complain of pilling covering the entire garment and holes that have formed between the thighs. Other customers have shared photos of sweat accumulating on the fabric and the thin fabric showing cellulite. Almost all of the positive reviews had to do with how flattering the fit was, and how nicely the compression sucks you in.
If you’re looking for the best yoga pants to wear to brunch and the worst ones to wear to hot yoga, you’ve met your match.
Specs & Features
- Best Suited for: Brunch and lounging around
- Material: Sculpting signature Airbrush fabric; 87% nylon, 13% spandex
- Inseam: 28” for XXS, XS, and S; 28.5” for M, L and XL

After reading all the hype online about the 90 Degree by Reflex leggings being a Lululemon dupe, we really wanted to love these yoga pants. Unfortunately, it was a classic case of too good to be true, as these leggings came nowhere near the quality, comfort, or performance of the Lululemon Aligns.
However, ignoring all Lululemon comparisons, these are not terrible for the price. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly option that gets the job done, these will do.
The moderate compression is nice for higher-intensity workouts, the 28” inseam is great for taller women, and the price point is extremely accessible – something we think yoga should always be.
If you’re new to yoga and aren’t ready to commit to a hundred dollar investment just yet, these might be your best option. However, when you’re ready for an upgrade, we have plenty of other recommendations for you here in this list.
Dive into our full in-depth review for our close up look at these budget leggings.

These leggings, while rated highly on Amazon, were ultimately disappointing. It’s hard not to get your hopes up on a $18.99 pair of yoga pants, but unfortunately these were exactly what the price suggests.
Many reviews complain of an extremely thin material that does not pass the squat test or provide adequate cellulite coverage. There were also mentions of an intrusive middle seam, really enhancing the presence of camel toe.
While the quality and performance leaves a lot to be desired, there is a bit of redemption in the style of the product. The crossover waistline has a nice slimming effect, and the flared pants elongate the legs a bit.
While we certainly wouldn’t recommend these for your next marathon, they’re a great option for around the house or even styled for a night on the town.

Yoga Pants Buying Guide
When it comes to yoga pants, we are absolutely spoiled for choice. There are variations out there for every body, every practice, every season, every color pallet… the options seem truly limitless. While it may seem like throwing darts in the dark, we think there are a few key features that will make the decision making process a little bit easier. We have a few parameters that everyone can consider when buying yoga pants to make their choice a bit less overwhelming.
Comfort
We’d wager that comfort is likely pretty high on the priority list for most yoga-pants-buyers, perhaps above quality and performance. There are a number of factors that can enhance or diminish the comfort of a legging.
Compression is an important factor to consider in regards to comfort. Some people like a high compression that really sucks you in, like the Athleta Salutation Leggings or the Girlfriend Collective Leggings, while others strongly prefer a “barely there,” light compression like the Lululemon Aligns or the Manduka Evolves.
Another common feature sought out by yogis is flat seamwork, that prevents unnecessary wear and tear on the garment. Flat seams, like that of the Lululemon Aligns, stay out of your way, they don’t dig into your skin, and they hold up far longer than seams that are constantly rubbing against each other.
Quality
Many yoga pants on the market sell for upwards of $100, but unfortunately the quality doesn’t always match the price tag. Look for these key specs to ensure your yoga pants are durable, long-lasting and worth every penny.
One of the biggest indications of quality is the thickness of the fabric. There are a couple ways to test the opacity, one of which is the infamous “squat test,” but you can also hold them up to a source of light and stretch them to see how much light filters through. However, transparency isn’t the only issue with thin fabric. Many women are looking to hide textural imperfections in their skin, like cellulite, and some of the thinner fabrics really show every little thing. Thick yoga pants, like the Beyond Yoga Spacedye Leggings, are perfect for this issue
Sometimes you can tell the quality upon first inspection with fraying seams. Be sure to carefully look over the seamwork to ensure there are no loose ends.
Pilling is going to be an issue to some degree with any pair of yoga pants you find. Pilling is more common in the uber-soft fabrics like that of the Yogalicious Nude Techs, so if you’re looking for a durable pair for higher-intensity workouts, we suggest leaning towards the slicker, spandex blends.
Yoga pants that have a tendency to pill usually also pick up lint and pet hair fairly easily. We recommend The Gym People Leggings or the Girlfriend Collective Compression Pocket Leggings whose slick fabric allows lint and pet hair to wipe right off.
Performance
Some are looking for leggings made for lounging that won’t see the outside of their home, but others are looking for high performing athletic wear to keep up with their toughest workouts.
One of the biggest issues that get in the way of performance is, you guessed it, pilling. If you’re looking to run or hit power vinyasa classes, we highly recommend shopping for athletic, sweat-wicking materials that won’t disintegrate from friction and moisture. The Athleta Salutations or the Manduka Evolves are some of our favorite high-intensity options.
Another common performance issue to be weary of is a sagging waistband that falls as you move. The last thing you want to deal with when you’re in the middle of a challenging workout is pulling your pants up. We love leggings with a slightly higher compression on the waistband to keep our leggings in place, like the Athleta Salutations.
Style
We aren’t ignorant to the fact that yoga pants have become more than athletic wear. In fact, at this point we’d go as far as saying they are a staple in the millennial woman’s wardrobe. In this day in age, we will not sacrifice form for function, nor the reverse, so we demand our yoga pants are as flattering as they are functional.
No one wants to talk about it, but no one wants their yoga pants to draw attention to their groin. We love the Manduka Evolves and the Halara Cloudful Leggings for their seamless front panel design that perfectly hides any hint of cameltoe.
There are a handful of new styles on the market that are especially flattering. For example, the Halara Cloudful Leggings have a crossover waistband that gives a cinching effect, or the Alo Airbrush Leggings that have a high compression waist, but a lower compression on the glutes, giving us a flattering, curvy silhouette.
Frequently asked questions
The names “yoga pants,” and “yoga leggings,” are used fairly interchangeably by yoga brands, influences and yogis alike. However, plain “leggings” could be referring to fashion leggings, which are not designed for movement, let alone extreme stretching.
Make sure when shopping for yoga pants that the product details include 4-way stretch, sweat wicking and that the fabric blend is a performance material (usually nylon, spandex and/or polyester).
Our top picks for yoga leggings are:
- Best Overall Yoga Pants – Manduka Evolve Legging
- Most Comfortable Yoga Pants – Yogalicious Nude Tech High Waist ⅞ Ankle Legging
- Best for Weight Training – The Gym People Yoga Pants
- Best Budget Yoga Pants – CRZ YOGA Butterluxe High-Waisted Lounge Legging
- Most Eco-Friendly Yoga Pants – Girlfriend Collective Compression Pocket Leggings
- Highest Overall Quality – Lululemon Align High Rise Pant 25”
- Most Flattering Yoga Pants – Halara Cloudful Crossover Pocket Plain Leggings
- Best Yoga Pants for Hot Yoga – Athleta Salutation ⅞
- Best Yoga Pants for Cellulite Coverage – Beyond Yoga Spacedye Midi Leggings
- Most Fashion Forward – Alo Yoga High-Waist Airbrush
Our picks for the softest yoga leggings are the Yogalicious Nude Techs, the Beyond Yoga Spacedye Leggings, or the CRZ YOGA Butterluxe leggings. All of these leggings have a soft, high quality feel to them that makes you never want to take them off.
Something worth noting, the softer leggings aren’t typically breathable and tend to be more prone to pilling, so it might be worth trying more athletic blends for higher intensity activities.
Yoga leggings aren’t the crux of your yoga practice, but there are some that are better suited for certain styles of yoga, climates, bodies and more.
If you practice a high paced vinyasa or hot yoga, we recommend opting for higher performing, sweat-wicking fabrics like that of the Manduka Evolves or the Athleta Salutations.
If you have more of a Yin or meditation practice, you can more easily prioritize comfort and go for a softer legging like the Halara Cloudful Crossovers or the Beyond Yoga Spacedye Leggings.
Our overall top picks for yoga pants are the Manduka Evolves, the Lululemon Aligns, and the Athleta Salutations.
These leggings achieve a near perfect trifecta of comfort, quality and performance. They have durable, moisture wicking materials along with a flattering fit that is ideal for yogis practicing any style of yoga.
In order to get the most out of your yoga pants, it’s important to choose the right size. Some brands run smaller or larger than usual. For example, the Beyond Yoga Spacedye Leggings run a bit small, so we recommend sizing up if you’re between sizes. If you’re unsure, almost all brands have sizing information listed on the product page for your reference.
Check out our full yoga pants reviews to find the right pair for you.
We recommend looking for the yoga pants that best suit your needs. If you’re looking for a high performing garment, look for athletic, breathable fabrics that are durable and aren’t prone to pilling. If you’re looking for loungewear, we recommend finding softer fabrics and more flattering shapes with no front seam, like the Halara Cloudful Leggings.
Capris, full lengths, and ⅞ are all great options, but the best option for you completely depends on your height and where you want the bottom of your leggings to hit. The conventional wisdom in the fashion world is that a pant should end at a point where your leg is narrowing, so the ⅞ length usually hits at the perfect spot right above the ankle. We love the length of the Beyond Yoga Spacedye Leggings.
