Best for Beginners on a Budget

It’s hard to fairly assess the 90 Degrees Leggings when they have been so often compared to one of the highest quality leggings on the market – yes, we are referring to the Lululemon Aligns.

This is a true case of apples to oranges, as you cannot compare the luxury brand and price point of Lululemon to $25 leggings. That being said, when considered by themselves in a vacuum, the 90 Degrees Leggings are a decent option for their price point.

These yoga pants won’t win any awards for quality, performance, style or comfort, but they will get you by on a budget.

These are suitable for people who want to give yoga a try before committing to a $100 investment for quality yoga leggings. They will not stand the test of time, but they will do the job for a while and let you test the waters.

Let’s Dive In and go over some of the 90 Degrees specs.

90 Degrees are Lukewarm

Before we really dive in, it’s important to note that different colorways have different fabric blends. This means the product we’re reviewing here could be radically different from the pants you’re looking to purchase. So for clarity’s sake, we will be discussing the Uptown Red colorway.

We did some preliminary research on the 90 Degrees leggings, so we had some high expectations going into this. They are often compared (likely by paid influencers) to the Lululemon Aligns. In fairness, they do have the same basic design, some of the same features, and a slightly similar feel, but in truth, the 90 Degrees leggings don’t compare.

The material is pretty thick and does provide adequate coverage – they pass the squat test and cover cellulite for the most part. That being said, the material is a bit stiff and scratchy, but several customer reviews claim they soften after a couple washes.

While we’re on the topic of washes, it’s important to note that these leggings are extremely prone to pilling issues, and they are an absolute magnet for lint and pet hair. The care instructions say they are machine washable, but we actually recommend throwing them in with your delicates and hanging dry to better preserve these leggings.

After scouring reviews and testing them ourselves, we have found these are not entirely sweat-proof. These are pretty thick and aren’t the most suitable for higher-intensity workouts anyways, but if you want to wear them to hot yoga or HIIT classes, we would recommend opting for some of the darker colorways.

Features

These leggings have a bit more compression than some of the others we’ve featured, making them a decent option for the gym or heavier lifting. The compression is still considerably low for leggings that claim to help with “tummy control.” A lot of users who purchased these leggings specifically for this issue and were extremely disappointed.

These are a great option for women on the taller side, featuring a 28” inseam. However, for women on the smaller side, we recommend sizing down – the excess material tends to bunch at the knees and groin area.

Quality

The 90 degrees leggings leave something to be desired. These are not the engineering feats of Lululemon or Manduka, where the creators agonize over every detail – these leggings do the absolute bare minimum at a bargain price. The seams, the construction, and the material are all sufficient and nothing more.

The seams are thick, which tend to get in the way between the thighs and dig into the skin. For reference, other yoga brands have changed their stitching over the years in favor of a flatter seam for this reason.

The 90 Degree leggings are also extremely prone to pilling. This is an issue with most leggings to some degree, but usually it is a result of particularly soft fabric, and is usually localized between the thighs and not all over the garment. These leggings simply aren’t soft enough to justify the level of pilling found all over the fabric.

The 90 Degrees yoga pants provide adequate coverage for the squat test and for mild cellulite. Thankfully, these don’t enhance the dreaded camel toe, though there is an excess of material in the groin area, still making for a pretty unflattering fit in that region.

Comfort

When we pulled the 90 Degree Power Flex Leggings out of their packaging, the fabric was noticeably stiff – it made that familiar crack-y sound of a higher compression fabric when we unfolded it. The material is a bit scratchy when you first put them on, but many customer reviews say they soften up after a couple washes.

As far as the fit, these were definitely designed for longer legs with a 28” inseam. Additionally, there was a bit of excess fabric bunching around the groin area, which is neither comfortable nor flattering. For this reason, we recommend sizing down. The waistband has moderate compression, but it slides down significantly during movement – again, not very comfortable.

Yoga pants are inherently more comfortable than other pants, but these are on the lower end of the spectrum. If you’re looking for comfort at a similar price point, we would highly recommend the Yogalicious Nude Tech Leggings over these.

Performance

These aren’t the most ideal for high-intensity workouts because of both the pesky pilling issue, the constant sliding down of the waistband, and the lack of breathability in the material. Since these leggings aren’t the highest performing, we think they are far better suited for lower-intensity workouts, lounging, and errand running.

As we’ve mentioned, these leggings are also a decent option for beginners who are just trying yoga out. They are not great for hot yoga or every-day-vinyasa-goers, but these pants will get the job done for the average novice – we just don’t have much faith that they will last like some of our other recommendations.

Price/Quality

We were hoping to find luxury at $25, but unfortunately, these fell a bit short. For the price, these leggings are exactly what we would expect. They will get you by in lower-intensity workouts, but we wouldn’t pick them as a leader in performance.

The $25 price point is a really nice option that makes yoga more accessible, but as we said, these are exactly what you would expect at such a bargain.

Do We Recommend Them

These will suffice for easy to moderate practice, but these are far from our first choice.

The price point is really nice but you will sacrifice a lot in quality, comfort, performance and style. They will get you by for a short time, but we can almost guarantee after a month or two you’ll be yearning for an upgrade.

That being said, if you’re on a tight budget, we would still recommend the value-oriented Yogalicious Nude Techs over these. They have many of the same issues, but the fabric has a much softer and luxurious feeling than these 90 Degrees leggings.

Otherwise, if you’re willing to splurge, we have far better recommendations in our buyer’s guide and encourage you to shop around a bit more.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is 90 Degree a Lululemon dupe?

The 90 Degree leggings are, and they aren’t; they look and feel like a cheap knock off. It’s clear that the intention was to make an affordable dupe of the Lululemon Aligns in terms of design and fabric, but it’s tough to make a pair of $100 leggings for $20 and still make a profit. They may appear similar, but the 90 Degree leggings fall short to Lululemons in almost every category.

Is 90 Degrees the same as Yogalicious?

The 90 Degree leggings and the Yogalicious Nude Tech Leggings are made with different materials and different levels of compression. Yogalicious leggings are much softer and more lightweight than that of the 90 Degrees, but they have many of the same issues like pilling or sliding down during movement. Their most notable similarity is the affordable price point.

Are 90 Degree leggings sweatproof?

The 90 Degree leggings are not sweat proof. These leggings are best for low-intensity workouts anyways, as they are not the most breathable and have a pesky pilling issue.
