Gorgeous views, unbeatable weather, and endless adventure make Hawaii an alluring destination for those longing to get away. The iconic string of islands draws millions of tourists annually to celebrate life, love, and other major milestones – though, we hardly need an excuse to visit somewhere so breathtaking.
While Hawaii doesn’t have the typical all-inclusive packages you might find in other tropical destinations like in the Caribbean or Mexico, there are still a number of resorts that offer some inclusive amenities. Some include indulgent spa treatments, or perhaps stay and play golf, while others focus on adventure-seeking activities and include access to paddle boards, snorkeling gear and other island activities.
While the resorts in Hawaii are not all-inclusive, there are many options that offer some amazing included amenities. If you know what you’re looking to get out of your Hawaiian vacation, you can plan accordingly and get a lot of value for the price of your stay. What’s Special About this Resort
This resort has everything you would want and expect from an upscale Hawaiian resort, plus a nice serving of good ol’ Disney magic. The care and attention to detail that Disney is known for shines through every nook and cranny of this beautiful resort. Every room, pool, restaurant and experience is designed to “wow,” and is carefully curated with consideration for everyone in the family.
We fully expected kid friendly amenities from a Disney resort, but what we weren’t expecting and were truly impressed by was the extensive consideration for the parents. This is the only resort we’ve come across that offers free child care, at what they call, “Aunty’s Beach House.” Additionally, for adults they have a bar and lounge, adults-only whirlpool spas with a sunset ocean view, fine dining options and more.
The Aulani Disney Resort is not all-inclusive, but they do offer a wide range of included experiences and activities. You can find what is included here. They currently have offers to receive 25% off of select rooms.
Things we like:
-
Lots of dining options with various price points
-
The price of your stay includes over 30 complimentary activities
-
At no additional cost the resort provides child care for kids ages 5-12 at “Aunty’s Beach House”
-
Even though this resort is curated for families with children, it still feels upscale and has elements that appeal to all age groups
-
Beach is a calm lagoon and very suitable for young children (though not great if you want fun in the waves)
Things we don't like:
Check in and rooms don’t feel luxurious for the price you pay
Activities for kids 3 and under are limited
Cleaning policies since Covid have been subpar according to guest reviews
Website boasts “over 30 free activities included in your stay” but only 15 are listed on their website
Pools can be cold

Golf has a surprisingly long tradition in Hawaii, beginning around the turn of the 20th century with the establishment of the The Moanalua Gold Club. Since then, golf has continued to grow in Hawaii – the state now houses over 70 courses between the islands. The Troon Island Hopper package offers the best Hawaiian golf experience as it allows you to try several different courses on this golfers’ paradise.
The Troon package includes stays and rounds of golf on three different Hawaiian islands: Maui, Kauai, and The Big Island, including 9 nights of accommodations at 3 different luxury resorts, 7 rounds of golf on 7 different courses, and rental cars at each new island. It truly reads like a golf enthusiast’s dream.
While food and beverages are not included in your stay, this is by far the most inclusive golf package we have seen with 7 rounds of golf and access to a rental car included in the price of your stay.
Things we like:
-
Provides a taste of several islands, oceanfront golf courses, and luxury accommodations
-
Each of the resorts are extremely highly rated
-
Fast paced Itinerary allows you to experience a little bit of everything
Things we don't like:
Luxury price point
Booking and fees for airfare to and between the islands is the traveler's responsibility
This is a fairly fast paced itinerary so not sutied for those looking for a relaxing vacation

What’s Special About this Resort
Hotel Renew is an affordable, gorgeous, boutique hotel in Honolulu. It is a beachside highrise set in the hustle and bustle of Waikiki Beach. This is a beautiful hotel in a killer location for a tenth of the price of some of the other resorts we’ve covered.
This Hotel is for people who are comfortable with, and hopefully fond of, city living. We recommend this hotel for those who want to fully experience all that the island has to offer, and maybe not for those who are looking to enjoy the luxuries of a hotel room. While Hotel Renew doesn’t have a gym, a spa, or a pool on the property, you can’t beat the location in the heart of Waikiki – and the unbeatable two minute walk to the beach.
Hotel Renew is not all-inclusive. There are special offers which can give you 10-20 % off of rates. Amenities such as beach gear and in-room fitness equipment is provided as part of your hotel amenity fee.

Natural Beauty, Culture & Adventure
Hawaii has a rich history, varied geography, and idyllic weather that brings visitors in from all over the world.
While you may imagine a perfectly sunny island, the climates are actually quite varied in the state of Hawaii. Even an island as small as Maui can have several microclimates, with different weather patterns, different foliage, and different temperature ranges. If you go up the mountain, you’ll find a chillier, rainier atmosphere than you would on the west side of the island, by the beach and agricultural fields.
Everything grows in Hawaii, and while its economy is certainly bolstered by tourism, it mainly depends on exports to fuel its economy. Sugar cane, coffee, avocados, macadamia nuts, pineapples and even livestock are huge exports of Hawaii. Pineapple plantation visits are a common outing for tourists, making for a deliciously informative day.
While Hawaii appears to be a utopian paradise, the islands are home to a good bit of war history. Ancient wars were fought by natives, and the islands have been a hot spot in global conflicts because of the advantageous location in the pacific. The Pearl Harbor memorial is a popular attraction for WWII buffs and for those looking to participate in a reverent, educational tour.
Venture Out of the Resort
There is so much to do, or not do, in the tropical paradise of Hawaii. This beautiful string of islands has something for everyone – the metropolitan vacationers, the history buffs, the active go-getters and those who just need a little rest and relaxation.
The Hawaiian islands are a perfect destination for active, outdoorsy folks. The Islands have over 600 different hiking, biking, and backpacking trails listed on Alltrails.com, all featuring gorgeous views and idyllic weather. You can stay busy on foot or in the water, as the waters of Hawaii are the perfect place to learn how to surf, snorkel, paddle board, or canoe.
Thrill seekers can also stay busy in Hawaii. Several islands have their own zipline tours, giving a fun ride and the perfect vantage point to take it all in. For the brave, there’s also shark diving in Oahu where you can get uncomfortably close to some of the ocean’s most formidable predators. Whether it’s skydiving, cliff jumping, or swimming with the sharks, there’s plenty here to get your heart pumping.
While it may not be as exciting as tearing down a mountain on a zipline or whale watching from a canoe, there are many educational experiences in Hawaii to stimulate the mind. On the island of Maui, the Haleakalā Observatory offers one of the clearest views of the night sky in the world. The Lyon Arboretum in Honolulu offers a 7 mile scenic hike, showcasing many of the plant species populating the island. The Pearl Harbor Memorial in Honolulu is a popular stop for WWII buffs, as it is equal parts moving and informative.
While there’s so much to stay occupied with, Hawaii is also a great place to do nothing. Enjoy the cool, sunshiney weather on the beach, by the pool or wandering aimlessly in the beautiful island paradise of Hawaii.
Frequently asked questions
It’s hard to go wrong when it comes to the Hawaiian Islands, but Maui, Oahu and the big island of Hawaii seem to be the most popular among tourists. Oahu (Hotel Renew) is far more tailored to tourism, featuring a bustling nightlife, historic monuments and tours, and resorts galore. Maui (Hotel Wailea), is a smaller island that serves as a better option for those looking for a romantic or relaxing getaway. The big island of Hawaii is the resort capital of the islands, and is home to many of the large, luxury resorts like Mauna Lani, Four Seasons Hualalai, and others we’ve covered. All of the islands islands are great for water sports and outdoor activities like hiking, paddle boarding, and more.
If you’re looking for optimal weather, the best time to travel to Hawaii is between March and September. The temperature stays high enough to fully enjoy ocean activities and you won’t have to worry about rain as much in the warmer months.
If you don’t mind a little rain and you’re on a budget, February and March are off-peak months where you will find the cheapest airfare and accommodations. The Mauna Lani, our top pick, is running a phenomenal sale for the spring and summer.
Hawaii is a safe vacation destination with violent crime rates that are about half of the national average – just 2.5 incidents per 1000 reported in 2022. Compared to other popular destinations like New York City or Chicago, Hawaii is a great option if safety is your top priority.
Hawaii is extremely accessible, with most major airlines now flying in and out of Hawaii. You can fly into the larger islands and access the smaller islands via boat or “island hopper” planes. If you don’t care for planes, there are a number of Hawaiian cruises that go out of several major ports on the west coast, like Los Angeles, San Francisco and even Seattle.
