The Phantom Aquatics Speed Sport Adjustable Snorkeling Fin is a lightweight, durable and portable product that is ideal for travel and everyday use. You can use these fins with or without booties, which makes them versatile for a variety of water activities such as snorkeling, open-water and pool swimming and even shallow-water spearfishing.

What’s more is that they are super easy to wear! Once you’ve edged your foot in and pulled the strap tight, you should hopefully find a snug fit within a contoured foot pocket that provides a lot of comfort.

Our swimmer was out testing these fins for a couple of hours, and when he came back from the beach he was happy… but unfortunately not ecstatic. What went right – and what could’ve gone better? Let’s dive in.

Strap and Foot Pocket

These Phantom Aquatics Snorkeling Fins are a great choice for your next snorkeling adventure off of a boat. The foot pocket is comfortable to wear with booties or without, and they have a treaded sole for additional stability when walking around on deck and preparing for your snorkel. They are also contoured and made of high-grade polypropylene, making them extremely durable and super comfortable. This is also due to the extended sole plate which adds thrust power and relieves strain on your feet.

These Speed Sport Snorkeling Fins come with an adjustable strap system that allows you to adjust the fit to your exact needs. The strap takes on the classic Scuba Fin buckle system for donning and doffing which makes things really simple whether you’re in or out of the water. It is also made from a high-grade silicone material which is unlikely to snap.

Blade

The Phantom Aquatics Speed Sport Fins feature long and super flexible blades that weigh in at around 6 oz per fin. As they are more lightweight than heavier swimming fins, such as the Arena Powerfin Pro, it makes it easy for swimmers of all levels during their snorkeling adventures. This design, coupled with the fact that they come in a neat fin net for carrying, also makes it easy for divers to travel with their fins.

The blades also feature a specific design including vents and side ribs which channel the water through the kick and enhance the efficiency of energy transfer from your foot right to the tip of the blade. This makes up for the power lost in the flexibility of the blade which is actually the fin’s downfall as you’ll read further down.

Finally, the blades come in multiple color options so you can customize your snorkeling and swimming gear according to your personal style! The fins come in grey, pink, red, yellow, and blue – the choice is yours.

Price/ Quality Ratio

This fin is ideal for beginner snorkelers who need a high-quality, comfortable fin that will give them some extra power while in the water.

At less than $30 on Amazon, they are undeniably one of the cheapest fins on the market which makes them super accessible to beginners all around. We can also assure you the quality is not compromised because of this. They’re also available in multiple color options so you can match your gear to suit your personal style!

Do we recommend them?

While these snorkeling fins certainly seemed to be everything they were designed for, unfortunately, the blade flexibility takes some of their good points away. This kind of flexibility in a swimming fin makes for a comfortable kick as this reduces the pressure on the top of the foot. However, a lot of power can be lost through this bending.

Our swimmer managed to get himself caught in a current and had to kick with a lot of power in order to get back to his starting point. Understandably, the area he was swimming in is known for its particularly strong currents, and it is unlikely that beginners would practice in such areas so this may not be as much of an issue for the target market.

All things considered, we were thoroughly impressed by these fins given the low price and we would definitely put a ‘recommended’ tag on them.
