Best battery powered pump

If you want to inflate multiple watercraft consecutively without worrying about an on-grid power source, the TOPUMP Electric paddle board pump is a pretty solid option.

With 7500mAh of battery power, it’ll pump 3 all-round paddle boards–on average. It’s also a power bank with a standard USB plug.

Filling up SUPs with 15-20 PSI in a 2-stage process, effortlessly preparing for your session while it supplies the correct amount of air needed. It’s easy to program and easy to see because of its LCD screen.

There’s also a deflation connection for easier packing of inflatable craft.

While running, we found it’s one of the least noisy electric paddle board pumps we’ve reviewed.

Review

If you want to spend more time in the waters, investing less effort in inflating your SUP will be the best option. The solution? Electric air pumps. This one from TOPUMP will have your paddle board ready in no time. The package also comes with five various adaptors to accommodate different valves.

Five valve adaptors are included.
Five valve adaptors are included.

TOPUMP can inflate up to five SUPs consecutively, with PSI ranging from 0.5 to 20 PSI, and can operate with temperatures between -10oC and 60oC. You don’t need to wait for the motor to cool down before setting up the next paddle board, as we did while using the iRocker Electric Pump. TOPUMP’s interface is also very user-friendly, with power/start, PSI + and -, and mode (PSI/Bar) buttons, with an upgraded screen design to guide you during the process.

Pretty easy to use.
Pretty easy to use.

We also appreciate that it automatically shuts off after pumping air into each paddle board. Not only does it make it easier to inflate appropriately, but it also conserves the battery. (No exploring your SUP!)

And speaking of battery, this electric air pump is rechargeable, and you can connect it both via 12 VAC and DC. Ensure you’re not powering it up more than 13.5 amperes or risk damaging the unit.

There’s a built-in car plug underneath so you can charge it on the go, or you can opt to plug on the socket directly. We also appreciate the USB socket next to the barrel charging port. You can use TOPUMP as a power bank for your phone or tab.

You can plug it into your car to charge. It also works as a power bank.
You can plug it into your car to charge. It also works as a power bank.

And since the 7500 mAh battery is integrated inside the electric pump, you can bring it near the waters as long as it has some charge. No need to stay near a power source as we did with Nixy Ventus and Outdoor Master Shark II.

The TOPUMP electric air pump inflates your SUP in two stages. The first blow is 350L/min, and the second provides 85L/min. If you have a medium-sized paddle board like the Isle Pioneer 10’6” and Gili Air 10’6” with 15 PSI recommended inflation, it’ll only take roughly 8 mins. to fill it up with air. Your inflatable kayak will also benefit from this workhorse.

You’ll notice that the motor is pretty loud. It’s typical for most electric pumps. It’s part of the package the manufacturers made clear in their listing. So if you don’t like noise, TOPUMP might not be for you.

You can also use this air pump to deflate your SUP more quicker. Just connect the hose on the left port, and it’s good to go. Not only saving you time, but the vacuum-like process sucks out air effectively, making rolling and packing more effortless.

And when it comes to portability, TOPUMP provides convenience. Although it doesn’t come with a bag, there’s a handle for easy carry and a strap so the hose stays intact to the unit (though a bag would still be better to add some protection while in storage/traveling). It’s not as small as the Thurso Surf Electric Air Pump, but it’s still pretty easy to carry everywhere you go.

Overall, the TOPUMP Electric Air Pump is a solid option backed with reliable performance. It inflates multiple SUPs when charged fully. And with the built-in battery, you can bring it near the shore without worrying about the power source. You also have the option to plug it into your car’s cigarette lighter. The user interface is user-friendly. You can also use it on inflatable kayaks and blow-up boats with the five different adaptors included in your purchase.

Price/Quality Ratio

For around $160, TOPUMP is a reasonably priced electric pump. The combination of its quality build, ability to inflate up to five SUPs in full batt, and being rechargeable is hard to come by. Most of the time, electric SUPs within this price range require you to plug them directly into a power source. You’ll be inflating your watercraft by the parking lot and spending effort portaging it to the waters.

Effortless to use, with valve adaptors, and portable. Plus a fast charge time of 2.5 hours for all the benefits. TOPUMP is one of the best electric pumps out there, ready to inflate various watercraft to give you the best time outdoors.

Do we recommend it?

Definitely.

If you own multiple SUPs and other inflatables, you’ll enjoy the accessibility this air pump will serve you. Inflate and deflate in no time. Blow up multiple watercraft by the shores without the hassle of transferring them from Point A near a power source to the coast. And if you’re traveling around with your car, you can charge it in the cigarette lighter on the road, so it’s ready for use once you reach your destination. How convenient is that!

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Are electric pumps better?

It depends.

Sure, if you want to save time and know you’ll be near a power source. But if you’ll spend an extended period in the wild, maybe kayak camping, a manual pump would still be more reliable, although more physically demanding.

How many paddle boards can I inflate using TOPUMP?

You can inflate up to five medium-sized SUPs using TOPUMP consecutively. It would only take roughly eight mins. of running this electric air pump on 15 PSI to complete its 2-stage process and give your paddle board the proper amount of air it needs.
