The Red Paddle Ride 10 6 is an excellent all around paddle board for beginners that’s ideal for calm waters to light chop. It will also be excellent for getting into touring. For intermediate to advanced users, this board will take you on most bodies of water including white water and surf, however, it is best suited to tranquil shores and lakes.

This board is built with high quality tech and materials and is made to last, it even includes a 5-year guarantee. This is a beginner-friendly paddle board that is an excellent choice for those looking to venture further into paddle boarding. Intermediate users will be able to get a little more out of this one, armed with a solid paddle this board can get some decent speed.

When we tested it over a couple of days, we had a day with some pretty strong wind gusts. This is when the paddle proved its worth. It performed similarly to the Nixy Newport G4 and the Aqua Marina Vapor, but the quality paddle makes this SUP from the Red Paddle Co stand out a little bit.

The backpack and pump also make the Ride package a unique stand out in a field of many. But while the backpack is awesome, the pump didn’t perform (ergonomically at least) to match the unique design.

The Red Paddle Co 10 6 iSUP board is a really good all round board that comes in at a higher price than similar models in the segment. The bag and paddle might make it worth it in the long run.

Accessories

The Red Paddle Co. Ride 10 6 package includes all the essential accessories that compliment the paddle board. Included in the Ride 10’6” package is a robust coiled leash, a manual dual-chamber action pump as well as a Red Paddle Co. backpack.

  • Leash: Included is a Red 8′ Coil Leash, the strap is very comfortable. The coil form means that the strap does not get in the way whilst paddle boarding.
  • Pump: Included is the Titan II purpose-built, dual-chamber pump. The dual-chamber means that you can inflate your paddle board in half the time.
  • Backpack: The Red Paddle Co. all terrain backpack is perfect if you want to take this inflatable paddle board with you whilst travelling. The backpack uses double stitched seams and strong bonded nylon creating a touch exterior ideal for travelling.

Stability

With a thicker tail and nose this board is built for stability. The materials used, including the reinforced rail tape around the Ride 10 6 make this Red Paddle Co. iSUP board rigid and sturdy, mimicking a solid SUP board. It’s higher PSI also contributes to this.

The board provides excellent stability for a single paddle boarder, however, the lower weight capacity of 220lbs can influence the stability significantly. If you are looking for a more stable board the size up, 10’8” Red Paddle Co. Ride might be a better option. One of the bigger advantages of this paddle remains is that it remains sturdy even at lower PSI.

Maneuverability

At the ideal length of 10 6 this Red Paddle Co. iSUP board boasts great maneuverability. The shape and size make it easy to turn in the water and it’s light weight makes it easy to pivot. The long traction pad also increases the stability and grip when pivoting. The lower weight capacity of the 10 6 Ride board makes it a little less stable and manoeuvrable for heavier people or a board with a lot of cargo.

Unlike most other paddle boards in this segment, the Ride has only two side fins. This curious design didn’t have any negative impact on tracking, but it seemed to be able to turn very sharply. Combined with the absence of rear bungee cords for cargo, step back turns were nice to execute (no tripping around over the chords).

Portability

The Red Paddle Co. 10 6 Ride is great for travelling and carrying to and from water. The board is made from very lightweight materials and one person can easily lift it. Once inflated the board has three handles located at the nose, tail and centre of the board. These make it easy to transport the board to and from water surfaces.

It also comes with a strong backpack which can hold the paddle board and added accessories without problems, ideal for travelling. The shoulder straps can get folded into flaps that velcro seal making checking it on a plane easy–and something insurance companies approve of. The bag was one of the more comfortable and we even found it easy to bike with. Maybe the best bag we’ve seen!

Price/Quality Ratio

Red Paddle Co. make incredibly durable and sturdy boards with some of the iSUPs in their range capable of withholding the weight of a 24 ton roller truck. The Red Paddle Co. Ride 10 6 uses Tech Air and MSL technologies to create a lightweight, sturdy and durable iSUP. The materials are high quality and with the included accessories including, a backpack, pump and leash these boards are of great value.

It’s currently more expensive than the aforementioned Vapor and Newport G4, but the Ride’s paddle and bag give it added value that can’t be denied and has a price.

It’s a good board to start out on with room to improve, whereas more experienced paddlers will appreciate its versatility and design. Ideal for travelling on account of the size and amazing bag, this board is great for those living further from the water. The Ride 10 6 is made from high quality materials and built to last.
