Founded in California, NIXY provides a range of affordable and durable boards made for all levels of paddle boarders. The Newport G4 is an ideal SUP choice for those looking for a recreational touring board. Stable and rigid thanks to the fusion technology and carbon fibre rails used in it’s construction the NIXY Newport has a high weight capacity whilst remaining lightweight.
When testing this Nixy SUP board, we put a beginner on it after a 10-minute crash course on the much heavier and stable Hippocamp from South Bay. The Newport G4 was a great platform toward getting into more touring-oriented paddling and proof of its worth as a beginner to intermediate paddle board.
Travel-friendly with the three-wheel travel backpack, this board is light and portable when inflated or deflated. Coming in a comprehensive package which includes a paddle, leash, pump and the backpack the NIXY Newport is affordable without compromising on product quality.

The NIXY Newport comes with a comprehensive package which includes a range of accessories; notably a fiberglass paddle, dual-chamber pump, leash and triple-wheel roller backpack bag for travelling. The board also comes with 8 D-rings for attaching smaller accessories and a bungee at the front end of the board for carrying personal belongings.
There’s also a paddle holder on the port side of the front of the board. This is the only really big point of contention we found, wondering how this curiously placed feature might be nice when taking a break, but less than appreciated when we found it dragged in the water during our speed tests.
Paddle: A three-piece adjustable fiberglass shaft paddle with nylon paddle blade. This paddle is slightly heavier than a pure fiberglass or carbon fibre paddle weighing 33 ounces. However, it makes for an ideal beginner-friendly paddle.
Leash: Included in the package this 10’ leash is perfect, especially for beginners, as you will have no worries about losing the board when falling into the water. The coiled leash means that it does not get in the way when paddling either.
Pump: Triple-action, dual-chamber pump that will inflate your paddle board in less than 15mins.
Backpack: This heavy-duty, three-wheeled, PVC backpack fits all the kit and package neatly into a travel friendly bag. Compact and easy to carry this bag makes the NIXY Newport an ideal iSUP for travelling.
Stability
With a high weight capacity of 300-350lbs this board is made for stability. The carbon fibre reinforced rails along with the dual-layer fusion tech also make this board super rigid, mimicking a hard board. This rigidity increases the stability of the NIXY Newport G4 making it ideal for beginners thanks to its large surface and enhanced surface.
At 33 inches it has more width than comparable SUP boards like the Cruise 10-8, but less than the Thurso Surf Waterwalker 132. That means it has more stability than the former and more maneuverability than the latter.
More experienced paddle boarders can also enjoy this board and even take along their dog or friend thanks to the high weight capacity.
A solid and stable board the NIXY Newport is also surprisingly manoeuvrable. Lightweight this board tracks well in the water and more importantly is very receptive to movements and changes to tracking. Ideal for beginners learning new tricks this board is also suited to advanced paddle boarders who enjoy doing tricks in the water.
The NIXY Newport helps riders turn with ease and makes it easy to lift the tip to turn so you can avoid all obstacles on flat water surfaces. During testing we did continuous circles using step back turning and found it had an impressively small turning radius.
Portability
The NIXY Newport is transportable whilst inflated as well as deflated. The triple-wheel roller backpack bag is included with the board and makes it ideal to travel with and transport to and from the water. It’s one of the better bags for pulling as a trolley because of the 3 wheels. Not as good as the Red Paddle Co bag you get with the Red Paddle 10’6 ride, but better than-probably-most other all arounder bags.
Once inflated the board has 3 conveniently placed handles, one in the centre and two at either end, these make it comfortable and easy to carry from the water as well as out of the water. Additionally, the board has D-rings all along the length where added handles or bungee ropes can be added making it very transportable.
Price/Quality Ratio
With an extensive package including pump, paddle, leash and backpack the NIXY Newport is an excellent and affordable board. As well as a comprehensive package the board is made with good quality materials making it a durable, stable and reliable product.
NIXY focuses on providing excellent quality products especially using advanced fusion technology. This technology consists of using layers of liquid PVC fused together to create a solid and firm board. The added inner drop stitch along with the reinforced carbon fibre side rails create an airtight and ultra-light board which is durable and strong.
