One of the most popular entry level boards on the market the Isle Pioneer 10’6 Inflatable SUP boards is excellent for those looking to get started in paddle boarding. An all round board that includes all the necessary accessories and equipment this is an excellent quality board at a very acceptable price given the quality.
This 2022 Isle Pioneer paddle board builds upon the previous Pioneer model providing more stability and maneuverability, while evolving its elegant design into a more ergonomic board. With 34 inches of width and a large deck pad, stepping about and doing yoga are clear applications for which the Pioneer is well-suited.
Excellent on flat water and lakes, this board is stable and tracks well in the water. The Isle Pioneer also has great maneuverability. This is thanks to the nylon center fin being well-positioned between two small integrated side fins that allow for better tracking on the water.
The board is compact when folded and relatively light. It’s the same Fusion Tech PVC material we saw in the new Switch. While the bag is a bit bulky because of the extra width of this SUP, it’s still relatively easy to carry on account of the lower than normal weight.

The Isle Pioneer is an innovative and ergonomic board that will last a long time if well maintained. It’s contemporary design will help beginners feel comfortable on the water while also challenging their balance. It’s a great all arounder that’ll be particularly useful for yogis, while maintaining the option of paddling a little further than most 10-sixers.
The board tracks well and has an intuitive feel to it, allowing you to paddle more efficiently without needing to make too many corrections as you glide on the water. The board is also somewhat travel-friendly, but the bulkiness of the package in the backpack is a trade-off for the extra width and stability.
The accessories that are included in the 2022 Isle Pioneer package are also of high quality and extremely useful as the brand has learned the needs of paddlers and upgraded from their previous 2019 model.
Furthermore, the Isle Pioneer is a great all round board that comes at an affordable price for any paddler, however especially if you’re just getting started and this is your first or second paddle board.

- Paddle: The included Isle Hybrid 3 Piece Adjustable SUP is the perfect travel paddle and is very good quality for the affordable price. It provides the paddler with strokes that are efficient and that do not lose energy due to twists and turns. That said, it doesn’t float indefinitely and the screws provided for the anti-twist locks can become loose with use and will need to be tightened after several uses.
- Leash: Included is a Isle 8′ Coil Leash, the strap is very comfortable and provides a velcro holder for a small valuable item such as your key.
- Pump: The provided pump is an upgrade from the single action 2019 model. The Isle Manual iSUP Hand Pump is a dual action pump that allows you to inflate your board in just under 10 mins.
- Backpack: The Isle travel bag is perfect if you want to take this inflatable paddle board with you on holiday. It is made of high quality materials and is very comfortable to carry. It is very spacious, has pockets and fits all the accessories provided in the package.

The Isle Pioneer is generally a very stable board when used by experienced paddle boarders however for beginners the board provides the right level of challenge in order for them to improve their paddle boarding ability. Furthermore, the board distributes the rider’s weight well, improving stability and allowing for better control of the board.
Maneuverability
The Isle Pioneer has great maneuverability. The nylon center fin is well positioned between two small integrated side fins that allow for better tracking on the water. The board turns easily with paddle strokes, while pressure on the back fin will allow you to pivot effortlessly on the board. That said, the later technique can at times be a challenge on this board, especially if you haven’t mastered pivoting.
Portability
Although not the most portable paddle board on the market, the Isle Pioneer does fold efficiently into the travel bag provided along with all of the included accessories. This allows you to transport the board easily to and from the water, and due to the board’s relatively light weight, it isn’t too difficult. As far as portability goes, this board is quite standard for an inflatable paddle board in its category.

The unique selling point for this board is that it affords you a high quality paddling experience for a very affordable price. This board is durable and made to last and can be banged, knocked and scratched without taking damage.
