TOPUMP Electric Air Pump

Customizable, Reliable

The iRocker electric air pump is one of the best options for inflating a paddle board. It’s the easiest to program, but it inflates to a default 15 PSI at the push of the “auto” button.

The iRocker electric SUP pump is lightweight, compact and comes with an LCD screen for ease of use.

This pump also stops automatically when the pressure you’ve selected has been reached. With the deflate opening air can also be easily removed from your paddle board for easier packing.

This pump is durable and reliable. With iRocker’s battery pack with 12V output, we managed to inlflate 3 SUPs consecutively. While the power bank ran dry, the pump had no issues and probably could’ve done another without needing a break. According to its specs, it needs a 30 minute cooldown brake for every 20 minutes that it is running.

Be aware that it only comes with a Halkey-Roberts nozzle. Adaptors for beds and some inflatable kayaks will be needed.

The iRocker electric air pump is a popular add-on for when you buy an inflatable paddle from the iRocker range.

The most prominent feature of the NIXY Ventus electric pump is its active cooling technology which allows you to use the pump to consecutively inflate more than one board without the pump overheating.

Nixy Ventus New Product Image

NIXY Ventus

The Gili electric paddle board pump is a high quality pump that comes with an intuitive digital gauge that makes selecting the pressure simple and convenient.

This is a great accessory to purchase when buying a Gili Sports paddle board such as the Gili Air 10’6”.

With a carry handle designed to increase portability, this electric paddle board pump from Gili is an excellent choice for a reliable and efficient pump that can both inflate and deflate your paddle board.

It’s the same as Aquaglide’s pump, probably made in the same factory. Both are good.

This pump comes with a variety of nozzles making it ideal for inflating different types of inflatable vessels, including kayaks and some boats.

The Gili electric pump also features an automatic shut off that is not only triggered when it reaches the selected pressure but also when the pump is about to overheat.

A downside is that the pump has a usage time of about 20 minutes, meaning that you’ll have to allow for it to cool down before using it again. This is more than enough time to inflate 1 or even 2 paddle boards to 15 PSI but if you try and push it further it will automatically turn itself off.

Specs & Features

  • Supported pressure range: 0.5-20 PSI (0.034-1.378 Bar)
  • Max Pumping Speed: 330Lt/min at 1st Stage, 60L/min at 2nd stage
  • Max Energy Consumption: 10A, 120W (12V)

Gili Electric Paddle Board Pump

If you’re looking for an inexpensive electric pump that’s portable and just does the job, the OutdoorMaster Cachalot ticks those boxes.  Designed to be able to inflate two boards (or other similar inflatables) in a row, the Cachalot is ideal for paddle board sessions where 12V power is available.

While it doesn’t have the sophisticated cooling system of the OutdoorMaster Shark II, the Cachalot has almost every other feature of the Shark II. Like the Shark II, the Cachalot has a digital display with a digital pressure gauge that’s easy to read in any light condition, and is powered by 12V DC power from your car outlet. Moreover, the Cachalot also has a supported pressure range of 0.5 to 20 PSI, and comes with a variety of nozzles to make it compatible with almost all brands of iSUPs, inflatable kayaks, inflatable boats, and even some air mattresses. Lastly, just like the Shark II, the Cachalot also has an auto off function, and a deflate function.

While it has a few drawbacks, the Cachalot is worth considering if you need the inflation performance of the Shark II, but don’t necessarily need to inflate more than two boards in a row and want to save a little money.

Specs & Features

  • Supported pressure range: 0.5 - 20 PSI
  • Max Pumping Speed: 350L/Min at 1st stage, 70L/Min at 2nd stage

Made specifically to inflate paddle boards and inflatable kayaks, the Aquaglide Accelerator is a 2 stage electric air pump.

It is very portable, has a unique ergonomic handle, and features an automatic shutoff and deflate function.

The Aquaglide Accelerator is a 12V electric air pump that can be easily attached to your paddle board or kayak and has a number of features that make it a great addition to your paddle boarding arsenal.

Firstly, this pump is easy to use and setting the pressure you want it to inflate to is intuitive and convenient. Like the Shark II and the NIXY Ventus, the Accelerator has an automatic shutoff that triggers once the desired pressure is reached.

It also has a handle that increases its portability and makes it easy to move around.

It’s important to note that the Aquaglide Accelerator is not made to have a long runtime and will need a 10 minute break for every 20 minutes that it is on, otherwise it will overheat and shut down.

Given that this pump comes with 3 valve adaptors, it will not be compatible with all inflatables but it should work fine with most major inflatable paddle boards and inflatable kayak brands.

Specs & Features

  • Supported pressure range: 0.5-20 PSI (0.034-1.378 Bar)
  • Max Pumping Speed: 350L per min at 1st Stage, 70L per min at 2nd stage

The SereneLife electric air pump stands out for its ergonomic design and rechargeable battery that allows you to inflate your inflatable paddle board or kayak literally anywhere you want.

The SereneLife electric pump provides paddlers with an ergonomically designed product that has a foldable carry handle for convenient transportation.

With an easy to read (and use) LCD display, this electric pump is user friendly and even has LED flash lights on the front so you can use it at night.

The unique selling point of this electric pump is the rechargeable battery that allows you to inflate your paddle board away from your car. It also features a 12V power cord in case you run out of power.

The main drawback of this electric pump is that it can only inflate up to 16 PSI. That said, most paddleboards only need to be inflated to 15 PSI so this should suffice.

Another issue is that it only comes with a nozzle specifically adapted for use with Halkey-Roberts valves, but again this is the valve featured on most inflatable paddle boards.

We recommend you buy the SereneLife electric air pump, but are aware of some issues with the battery not turning on. Most of the time it’s because the “on” button needs to be held for 3 seconds.

Specs & Features

  • Supported pressure range: 0.5-16 PSI (0.034-1.103 Bar)
  • Max Pumping Speed: 25L per min at 1st stage
  • Max Energy Consumption: 10A, 120W (12V)

SereneLife Electric Air Pump

The Thurso Surf electric air pump has a unique pneumatic reader for measuring the pressure and is smaller and more compact than the other electric pumps on this list. This pump is the most lightweight pump on our best electric air pump guide.

With a smaller and more compact design, the Thurso Surf electric air pump weighs just 2.6 pounds making it the most lightweight electric pump on this list.

Reliable and portable, the Thurso Surf comes with a standard carry bag so you can take it with you wherever you go. This pump can inflate up to 2 boards consecutively and has a nifty little pneumatic reader for keeping track of the pressure.

That said, one of the major disadvantages of this pump is that it only inflates up to 15 PSI unlike the others that can inflate to 20 PSI.

As a maximum inflation 15 PSI should be enough to inflate most paddle boards, including inflatable paddle boards from the Thurso Surf range like the Waterwalker 11 SUP board.

Specs & Features

  • Supported pressure range: 0.5-15 PSI (0.034- 1.034 Bar)
  • Max Pumping Speed: 225L per min at 1st Stage, 30L per min at 2nd stage
  • Max Energy Consumption: 13A, 120W (12V)

Thurso Surf Electric Air Pump

The Seamax SUP20D electric air pump is a great option for when you’re blowing up your paddle board in dusty or sand environments thanks to its integrated sand filter.

A versatile and reliable pump, the Seamax SUP20D boasts a fast inflation speed thanks to a one-way diaphragm valve.

This is a durable and reliable pump featuring an integrated sand filter that protects from dust and sand as well as an outtake chamber that reduces the noise of the pump when it is running.

This pump has a carry handle, like iRocker’s, for added portability and a deflation function to help remove the air from your paddle board before packing it away.

The main issue with this pump is that if it overheats the piston seals can melt. The piston seals are an internal part of the pump and it will not function properly without it. Shouldn’t be a problem when only inflating 1 or 2 SUPs.

Additionally, as this pump doesn’t come with a rechargeable battery, you will need a car or battery pack to power it.

Specs & Features

  • Supported pressure range: 0.5-20 PSI (0.034-1.378 Bar)
  • Max Pumping Speed: 350L per min at 1st Stage, 70L per min at 2nd stage

Electric Air Pump Buyer’s Guide

Know how many paddle boards are getting inflated and what the pressure requirements are to figure out the best electric pump for your needs.

Supported Pressure Range

When buying an electric air pump for inflating your iSUP or inflatable kayak you want to make sure that the pump can support the pressure you want to inflate to.

Most inflatable paddle boards need to be inflated to between 12 and 15 PSI, so the minimum supported pressure range for an electric pump should be 15 PSI. Most of the electric air pumps that are on this list have a supported pressure range of 20 PSI. Blackfin boards have a range of 14-18 PSI, which demands a little more of the pumps. iRocker’s does a pretty good job inflating these, but that also demands a battery supply that can cover the needs. The iRocker battery can power inflation of 3 all arounder at 15 PSI.

Electric-sup-pump-5
The iRocker Electric SUP Pump has a 12V car plug that works really well with iRocker's battery.

Power

One of the most important things to consider when buying an electric air pump is the pumping speed.

Most air pumps have a 2 stage system in which they pump more than 300L of air per minute in the first stage and then pump around 50L in the second stage to reach the required pressure. You definitely want to look for a pump that has a high pumping speed as this means that it will inflate your paddle board quickly.

Another factor to think about is whether you want an electric pump that comes with a rechargeable battery or not.

Most electric air pumps don’t come with a rechargeable battery and will need to be plugged into a car’s cigarette holder lighter socket or a battery pack for power. If you don’t have a car or want an electric air pump that has a rechargeable battery check out the SereneLife electric air pump.

Functionality

There are a number of functional factors to consider when buying an electric air pump.

Firstly, you want to make sure that the electric pump has some sort of active or passive cooling mechanism. The Outdoor Master Shark II for example has an active cooling that allows it to consecutively inflate multiple inflatables.

Another factor you want to check is whether the pump features an automatic shut off when the desired pressure is reached. This will allow you to get ready and put your kit on without having to keep checking the electric pump every 5 minutes.

It’s also important for the electric pump to have an automatic shut off when it overheats to stop the pump being damaged.

You should also make sure that the electric air pump has a deflate option as this is extremely useful for removing the air from your paddle board before packing it up.

Compatibility is an important factor when it comes to inflating different types of boards and inflatables.

A Halkey-Roberts compatible nozzle should be enough for inflating most paddle boards, however if you want to inflate different inflatables such as kayaks, boats or even mattresses you will need an electric pump that comes with a larger range of nozzles. The NIXY Ventus comes with 7 different valve adaptors making it suitable for inflating almost all inflatables.

Portability

When looking to purchase an electric air pump portability is an important factor. You want to find a pump that is lightweight and compact.

Making sure your electric air pump is compact and portable is important as it means you’ll save space in your SUP bag. The Thurso Surf electric air pump is the lightest pump on our list at just 2.6 lbs.

Some electric air pumps like the Aquaglide AcceleratorGili Electric air pump or the Seamax SUP20D come with an integrated carry handle that improves portability by making the pump easy to carry.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the best electric pump for a paddle board?

There are many pumps on the market, but to be the best electric air pump for paddle boarding, the pump must inflate to a minimum 15 PSI, have a deflate feature, and have the capability to inflate at least 2 paddle boards consecutively.

Check out our list of the best electric air pumps:

How do you inflate a paddle board with an electric pump?

When inflating a paddle board with an electric pump you first need to connect the electric pump to the cigarette lighter in your car. You then need to turn the pump on and select your desired pressure (measured in PSI).

Next attach the air hose to the electric pump inflation and to the iSUP’s valve to begin inflating the paddle board. Once required pressure is reached, remove the air hose and close the paddle board’s valve to secure the air.

For more information about finding the best electric air pump read our guide!

Are paddle board pumps universal?

Yes. All pumps for inflatable paddle boards these days have the same nozzle for blowing up SUPs. Each electric air pump also comes with a different number of valve adaptors making it more or less versatile when it comes to inflating other types of inflatables.

Most electric air pumps come with a Halkey-Roberts compatible nozzle allowing them to attach to most inflatable paddle boards.

The NIXY Ventus electric air pump comes with 7 different valve adaptors making it suitable for inflating any inflatable product.

What PSI should my SUP be?

Most inflatable paddle boards need to be inflated between 12 and 15 PSI, this is enough pressure to keep them rigid and sturdy. That said, you should alway check the manufacturer’s instructions for the recommended inflation pressure.
