Enjoy Heated Water the Affordable Way

The budget-friendly approach for a warm shower outdoors is here- RISEPRO 20L Solar Portable Shower.

Enjoy around five gallons of hot water at the end of a fun day. This is a simple hang-up-high-in-the-sun-and-turn-on product. The bag needs to be higher than the nozzle to work. This portable shower will come in handy at the beach or camping overnight as long as it can be suspended somewhere.

It absorbs heat pretty well, super easy to set up and use.

There’s not too much rocket science here and the price reflects this low-tech product. But the effect is very much appreciated given its ease of use and effectiveness of it.

The weakest part of this product is the nozzle. It leaks from the switch, wasting some water, but it’s not too bad and similar to what you see on the Coleman and other cheaper models.

The PVC material has a noticeable ripstop pattern. And with RISEPRO bragging about its 3-layer construction, we were hoping that this portable shower would hold up. It’s so thin that you’re doomed if you scratch it against a rough surface (i.e., a tree trunk or a boulder). But considering how much it costs, there’s nothing much to expect. However, the marketing hype on their sales page might disappoint some.

Risepro 20l Solar Pvc Material
Its PVC material isn’t the most robust.

The seams have no reinforcement. If you accidentally drop the RISEPRO portable shower while it’s loaded, it’ll burst out. Same if you overload it to max capacity. And from that point on, the only thing you can do is throw it in the bin.

This portable shower can’t keep up with its supposed purpose as a product made for the great outdoors. It’s for those who need it for one-time use or two. But for the long-term, make the most out of your money deal? It’s still wise to invest in pricier models like the Ivation Portable Camping Shower and Geyser System Portable Hot Shower. Both dished out the need for a bag.

Now, RISEPRO 20L Solar Portable Shower relies on gravity to do what it’s supposed to. Just like Coleman Solar Shower and Advanced Elements Summer Shower, it needs overhead hanging, so you don’t end up in an awkward position trying to get the water flowing.

If you find all the hanging processes and complications too much to deal with, you’ll like battery-powered outdoor showers like Mr. Heater F235350 BOSS-XCW20 and pump-pressured ones like NEMO Helio.

At least the RISEPRO 20L Solar Portable shower still has more versatility compared to the Simple Portable Shower. Sure it’s compact, but you’ll only get a liter or two from your water bottle, and that’s just not enough. And it’s just a couple of bucks cheaper. But if you like eco-friendly initiatives, it’s a must-try.

Overall, don’t look forward to a solid build. It’s good enough to handle a handful of uses with extra caution.

Features

As simple as it may be at first glance, this outdoor shower model from RISEPRO offers practical features to give you an effortless way to wash up while camping. Let’s take it apart and see how well they perform in real-life scenarios.

Handle with Quick-Release Buckle

The handle is crucial for any portable shower needing gravity to work. Safe to say, after testing, RISEPRO 20L Solar has one of the sturdiest handles out there. Plus, they integrated a quick-release buckle so you can easily hang it and even branches without any trouble.

Since the handle comes with a quick-release buckle, hanging it is easier.

It’s a versatile alternative compared to Coleman Solar’s and Ozark Trail‘s rigid design. There’s also no need to use strings and rig it through D-rings like in Sea to Summit Pocket Shower when overloaded.

Mesh Pocket

Like Advanced Elements Summer Shower, this portable shower from RISEPRO has a mesh pocket at the front. You can keep your tiny toiletries like a small sachet of shampoo, mirror, and soap. It’s a little piece of convenience you won’t find in similarly-designed portable showers, Coleman Solar Shower, and Sea to Summit Pocket Shower.

Keep your toiletries within reach with this RISEPRO portable shower.

There’s not much space, so it best fits for small items only. But this organization is still better than hitting your portable shower and wasting time looking around for your soap.

Water Inlet

Quite a practical approach for an easy and secured refill, RISEPRO 20L Solar Portable Shower comes with a screw lid. You’ll also see this simple cap in Advanced Elements Summer Shower. It’s a breeze and doesn’t leak, unlike what we experienced with Coleman Solar Shower and its pop-up lid.

A screw lid is an effective way to keep water from leaking.

Not to mention, this outdoor shower model from RISEPRO has a silicone O-ring under the lid. It’s a staple must for a watertight seal. You’ll see this standard in most water bottles as well.

Water Outlet

One of the common pitfalls of this type of portable shower hides in the water outlet. The male nozzle of the RISEPRO outdoor shower is too small for the hose, which means leaking will be a problem.

The water outlet of the RISEPRO portable shower is leaky.

We saw how other customers struggled with this, and we experienced it ourselves. But we also found the solution from the reviews- zip tie! Use it to secure the hose in place, and it’s a problem solved.

Hose and Showerhead

You can choose from a trickle to free-flowing with the showerhead’s 3-option lever. It’s a helpful feature if you value saving up water since you can control the amount of output. It makes RISEPRO 20L Solar Portable Shower ahead of Advanced Elements Summer Shower and its one mode option, accessible by pulling the showerhead.

Risepro Three Water Flow Options
Choose from three water flow options.

RISEPRO’s showerhead isn’t anything fancy, but it does what it’s supposed to. The best part? It’s a glow-in-the-dark one aiding ease of use during the night. Without beating around the bush, the hose is kinky. It’s cheap, plastic-made, and a pain to straighten out. It’s super thin but still performs okay-ish for such an affordable price.

Pricier alternatives like Ivation Portable Camping Shower are more aesthetically pleasing but only pump water in single mode. Mr. Heater F235350 BOSS-XCW20 has a slide switch that controls water flow but offers a premium showerhead and faucet (at a high cost, of course).

Thermometer

Yes, RISEPRO 20L Solar Portable Shower warms up water under the sun. It actually retains temperature pretty well. There were even times we had to add cold water just to simmer it down after leaving it under a branch the whole day. This outdoor shower won’t disappoint with a cozy stream before you sneak inside your tent for some zzzzs.

There’s a built-in thermometer at the back of the RISEPRO portable shower to guide you. They’re working and provide you with both Fahrenheit and Celsius readings. We came across the same feature when camping using Advanced Elements Summer Shower.

Risepro 20l Solar Thermometer
The thermometer at the back is super handy, so you don’t scald yourself.

Now, it takes a few hours for this portable shower from RISEPRO to accumulate enough heat from the sun. If you don’t have the patience, you might as well opt for Mr. Heater F235350 BOSS-XCW20. It converts water for a hot shower in an instant.

Velcro Straps

You’ll notice Velcro straps at both corners of the RISEPRO 20L Solar Portable Shower. These hold the tube and showerhead in place. At least on paper. The Velcro straps are not strong enough to stay put, which was disappointing.

Risepro 20l Solar Velcro Straps

The Velcro straps are so weak they can’t keep the showerhead in place.

It’s a no-BS outdoor shower for a low price, so don’t search for high-end features. They’re not the best, we know. But most of them function ok, while some might need extra effort to work.

If you’re not satisfied with the RISEPRO portable shower, you can jump to our main guide for more options.

Capacity

With 5 gallons/20 liters on board, this outdoor shower from RISEPRO comes with the average capacity. Theoretically, it can run continuously for a couple of minutes at its full blast.

While testing, we found out that it’s hard to close the lid while trying to max out its capacity. In short, you’re getting less than the entire 5-gallon water supply it promises. Besides, as we mentioned earlier, the construction can’t keep up with the weight.

You can take a shower and clean up properly as long as you’re using it wisely. Turn it off while soaping up and use it in the lowest setting to avoid wasting water.

Ease of Use

It’s a gravity-dependent portable shower, so you won’t bump into trouble as long as you hang it at the right height. Trust us. We tried using the RISEPRO portable shower at head level, and it’s no fun at all. Well, unless you’re washing dishes or your fur baby.

It’s a no-brainer that battery-run portable showers like Mr. Heater F235350 BOSS-XCW20 and Ivation are time and stress savers. But on the same note, you need to pay extra for all the additional perks you get.

What’s the bottom line?

RISEPRO 20L Portable Shower is a simple and affordable model. Don’t look for premium comforts like extra pressure or an excellent modern-day showerhead. It’s a sub-twenty outdoor shower in the first place! You’ll enjoy its service if you set it up the proper way. It’s relatively easy for one hand-operation too.

Summary

First off, this outdoor shower from RISEPRO is on the low end of the price range. It only costs around $18 per unit. Keep that in mind at all times.

It’s not the most durable portable shower, nor equipped with the best features. But with its capacity and ease of use, it’s not bad. You may need to be extra careful when using it, but as long as you set it up correctly, you can enjoy warm showers while camping without digging holes in your pocket.

RISEPRO 20L Solar Portable Shower is a good option for a handful of uses. But if you’re an avid camper, it’s better to fork out a bit more cash for a more reliable portable shower you can depend on a long-term basis.
