Platypus Hoser 3L

The Platypus Hoser is a streamlined, supremely packable option showcasing all the virtues of simplicity. Its spartan mindset sets us up for success, as there’s less potential for breaking or losing unnecessary accessories, and it cuts down on weight.

There’s plenty to love about the Hoser’s modest weight and proven toughness, but there are also some notable drawbacks. These are mostly concerned with its unique fill and closure system- which resembles the cap on your average disposable water bottle situated on the bottom corner of the reservoir. You won’t have to be worried about accidental leakage, but filling and cleaning are greatly complicated.

The good news is that Platypus has adjusted the price to account for the stripped down design. The Hoser typically retails for considerably less than the other frontrunners that we’ve reviewed. If you can overlook the issues, the Hoser is a perfectly serviceable reservoir that can save you some weight as well as some money.
