Harness System

Defender 3 has nothing special in its harnessing. You have the typical dual top hauls with padded snap to keep them together. The removable shoulder strap is also easy to adjust, while the sliding pad eases off some load off your shoulder. It’s a feature that Adidas duffle bag brags over its competitors like PUMA Evercat Candidate and Suruid Workout Gym Bag, lacking a shoulder pad.

The plastic swivel hooks are breezy to clip/unclip. However, we noticed they are squeaky once you opt for shoulder carry while this gym bag is loaded. It’s a bit of an annoyance but not a deal-breaker (well, at least for us).

Although with standard webbing, the padding on both the dual top handle and shoulder strap prevents any skin-digging.

Defender 3 doesn’t pass the comfy test like some duffel bags with proper shoulder straps. But the durability of its harness is enough to last for a reasonable time. And comfort-wise, they’re not that bad at all.

Use it for boxing, basketball, tennis, or karate. Adidas excels in apparel in almost every sport and the Defender demonstrates this. But it lacks some organizational features (more later).

Main Compartment

Like most of its type, this Adidas duffle bag has a 2-way zip in its top-loading to the main compartment. One of the big reasons we love gym bags is their ease of use, and Defender 3 didn’t fail us. You can see all your stuff once you fully open up the zips. The 2-way zip allows ambidextrous shoulder carry.

Defender 3’s ease of use is a statement of what gym bags should be like.

The roomy main compartment of this Adidas duffle bag makes it an ideal training companion. Off for boxing? Your boxing gloves, shoes, catching mitts, shin guards, gym clothes, and a fresh set of changes can fit with lots of extra space. Defender 3 can also handle the load for your upcoming weekend trip.

Remember, there are no organizational features inside. You won’t find a hanging pocket like in MarsBro Gym Bag or a wet pocket like in Canway Sports Gym Bag.

Side Pockets

You can utilize a couple of zipped side pockets, and the right one has a mesh panel to allow airflow. It’s a plus for this Adidas duffle bag since sweaty or damp clothes/shoes can be problematic, especially when mixed inside the main compartment. The shoe pocket doesn’t expand and occupies any space in the main pocket like in Suruid Workout Gym Bag and VOORAY Burner Compact Gym Bag. Even if you have your trainers in, you can still utilize the main room of this Adidas duffle bag to its maximum space.

The left side pocket is relatively solid. You can use it for water bottles to keep them away from other stuff. Although, it’s not as convenient to use.

Front Pocket

Defender 3 comes with a pretty functional yet straightforward small pocket at the front, like PUMA Evercat Candidate. Your keys, wallet, and phone can avoid all the clutter in the main compartment. This Adidas gym bag is not as well-organized as Everest Gym Bag (with a water bottle holster in the middle, too!), but it’s still better than none like Thule Chasm. No need to sift through the big room digging for small items.
