Diving on the Soleil-2 in the Maldives
Guests going on a cruise onboard the Solei II have the opportunity to explore the best dive sites in the Maldives, from the central atolls to the less explored north and southern atolls.
To ensure a relatively comfortable and thrilling experience, the Soleil II at 44 meters/144 feet long accommodates 28 guests in 14 spacious cabins. The Soleil II has lots of space onboard, and luxury feels with modern amenities. The boat’s 14 cabins are located on all three decks and come with en-suite bathrooms and climate control.
There are six suites on the top deck, and they all have balconies attached. The master suites are located on the middle deck while the Standard double cabins are located on the lower deck.
All cabins on the Soleil II are spacious, fully air-conditioned, have a private bathroom with shower and toilet, a closet with hangers, storage space, power supply.
The two master suites come with one single, double bed, a wardrobe, a sofa and windows with a full view of the sea. The six balcony cabins are equipped with either two single beds or one double bed while the standard cabins have two single beds and portholes.
Guests can socialize with other guests in the spacious communal areas. The boat has a living room/lounge/saloon complete with an entertainment system, a film projector and storage space.
The Solei II has a large sun deck which comes with loungers and a hot tub. Non-divers who want to explore have the opportunity to do as there are island visits and beach BBQs on offer.
The liveaboard has two dining areas. Guests can dine either in the comfortable air-conditioned dining room or outside where they have a fantastic view of the sea. The meals provided by the boat’s chef are a mix of international and local cuisine. All meals are served buffet-style, and snacks are available all day.
Diving is done from the boat’s dhoni. Nitrox is available for divers with certification. The yacht also comes with a photo/video loading station and offers divers the chance to explore some of the best sites the Maldives has to offer.
To ensure safety on board, The Soleil 2 includes GPS, oxygen, first aid equipment, and a defibrillator.
Best time to go
While diving is suitable all year long, the best time to go diving aboard the Soleil II liveaboard is between October and May, when visibility is improved.
The Solei II usually departs from the harbor in Male. Guests spend the first and last nights of the cruise in the harbor. They (guests) are picked from the airport and transferred to the boat on the arrival day. The scheduled time of pickup is from 2 pm to the end of the day.
Upon the trip’s completion, guests are carried back to the airport
The Soleil liveaboard offers a range of itineraries ranging from 8days/7nights to 15 days/14 nights. The 8days/7night trip includes 15 dives with a minimum of 1-night dive. The 11days/10nights has a total of 21 dives with a minimum of 1-night dive. The itinerary for 12 days/11 nights trips has 24 dives with at least one-night dive while that of the 15 days/14 nights trips comes with 31 dives.
There are about 2-3 dives daily. There are two dives on the day before departure. No diving is done on the arrival/departure day. All diving is supervised by experienced dive guides.
