Description and details
Diving on the SimSim Dive in Egypt.
Being built in 2000, but fully renovated in 2016, the Sim Sim Dive liveaboard is a 31m of a wooden masterpiece powered by two Mercedes 650 HP engines. It is a Hurghada-based liveaboard with German management. Equipped with top-notch navigation tools like GPS, radar, VHF/UHF, and depth sounder, the SimSim Dive does not offer mass tourism. Its purpose is bringing the highest level of joy within a smaller group. With the various places to choose from, the professional and 22years experienced SimSim Dive crew are ready to bring you on a fantastic dive safari.
SimSim Dive Interior and Features
With only 8 cabins aimed for 16 passengers, you will be able to experience luxurious freedom. Each cabin is fully equipped with twin beds, AC, as well as private bathrooms with bathrobes. In addition to the private areas, the social areas are nothing shorter. The saloon is spacious, modern yet comfortable. There is an indoor lounge with a bar, large flat screen TV and an AC. In addition, a spacious dive desk is available at the back of the boat with enough space for gear storage and kitting up. A dive tender is also available. Last but not least, the top desk is the place to be if you want to enjoy a gorgeous view with a lovely wind breeze.
When it comes to diving, the creators of this liveaboard had in mind the space required for preparation. There is enough room for dressing up, checking and prepping up the diving equipment, as well as diving in and out of the water. SimSim Dive is equipped with 12l Bauer compressors. However, 15l tanks are available for rent per prior notice.
And don’t worry about the food. It is freshly prepared every single day, served in buffet style. For those (of us) weak for sugar, snacks are available throughout the day.
With SimSim Dive, guests have the opportunity to dive at the most interesting Red Sea dive sites. There are options for a North or South tour, both being 7-nights long. The North tour is perfect for people who are at the beginning of their diving career and are still learning, but also for wreck lovers who are in love with some of the most remarkable dive sites of the Red Sea. Places like the famous SS Thistlegorm wreck or the ‘ships graveyard’ named Abu Nuhas are just a couple of the many available options. The South tour, on the other hand, explore places like Fury Shoals, Rock and Zabargad Islands. Taking a trip to the Tiran Straits, the Ras-Mohamed National Park or the popular Brother Islands are also at your disposal.
Smoke detectors and fire extinguishers are available throughout the whole boat. First aid kits are almost always at the reach of the hand, as well as 60 life jackets. 1 life-raft for 25 people is also situated on the boat.
When to Go
If your work allows it, the best time for diving in the Red Sea is autumn and spring. As summer tends to be rather hot, while winter brings cold water temperatures, it is recommended to plan your trip accordingly.
