Having spent nearly three decades of sailing and cruising, the Sheena liveaboard that measures 24 meters or 78 feet is exceptional not only because of its tiny size, but also because of the diving opportunities in the more distant southern atolls. It was owned by Werner Lau, who operates many diving resorts around the world. Sheena, as a no-exception is stationed at the Filitheyo Island Resort. It thus gives its guests the luxury of an island stay and a liveaboard experience plus the bonus of being taken to the new diving destinations across the fantastic islands of the Maldives.

Description and details

Diving on the Sheena in the Maldives

Boat Features

Despite the small size, Sheena is still a liveaboard with great features and amenities. Not only it has an elegantly designed spacious air-conditioned saloon with comfortable seating chairs, it is also equipped with an entertainment system for listening to music and watching movies. It also sports four sun decks for enjoying the sun and getting some tan. These areas with comfortable sun-lounging chairs can also accommodate guests wanting some solitary moments either for just a nap or for gazing at the inspiring views of the sea and sky.

There is also an outdoor saloon which doubles as an outdoor dining area. Here, guests can try the tasty meals served thrice a day for the duration of the cruise.

Sheena cruises the Maldivian waters with a cruising speed of 14 knots.

The Cabins

Sheena has 7 cabins which can accommodate a total of 14 guests. On the Upper Deck are two Double-bed Deluxe Staterooms which are more spacious than the other cabins. The other 5 cabins are are situated on the lower deck and have twin bunk-style beds.

All cabins have individual temperature control systems. Other amenities of the cabins include private bathrooms with hot showers, provisions of basic toiletries, reading lights, storage spaces, mirrors and shelves, as well as safety equipment like fire alarms and extinguishers.

Food and Beverage

Tasty meals are made daily in the kitchen of MY Sheena. A mix of local and international cuisines dominate the flavorful dishes served – be them full meals or light snacks. Served in buffet style, a typical day starts with an energy-giving breakfast, followed by lunch, and a full-menu dinner. For vegans and vegetarians, there are also options to choose from.

There are snacks in between, which are also tasty, considering that ingredients are best-sourced. There are refreshments in forms of juices, sodas, and even beers. A quite good selection of wine is also available.

Guests with special dietary restrictions need to have advanced notices as soon as they make the booking. This will ensure that their needs are accommodated and served.

As a world-class liveaboard, Sheena offers the best diving sites to its guests. With up to 3 dives per day, guests are brought to underwater destinations that are a true paradise in their own rights. Typical cruises last for 8 days or 7 nights, but there are also cruises which last up to 13 days or 12 nights, with more opportunities for action-packed underwater adventures.

Bannered by the North & South Male Atolls as primary destinations, this liveaboard also graces the waters of Gaafu Alifu Atoll and even the far Felidhoo Atoll. Exploring these sites will offer encounters with a huge number of fishes, corals, mollusks, and crustaceans. Macro sea animals like sharks, turtles, mantas, and stingrays are also possible to see.

There are land excursions included in the cruise that is done from dhonis (traditional Maldivian water vessels), where guests can also experience beach barbeques and opportunities of setting foot on less-traveled atolls and uninhabited islands within the Maldives.
