Diving on the Seafari-Explorer in the Maldives
The Seafari Explorer is built and powered for guests ’comfort, safety, and stability. At 37 meters/121 feet, it accommodates up to 22 guests in 12 cabins.
Cabins on the Seafari Explorer offer two single beds, one double bed or a combination of 1 double and one single bed. The boat has four spacious decks to choose from, and guests can opt to spend their time in various common areas. The sun deck on the roof-top is a favorite place thanks to its comfortable loungers and relaxing hot tub, or guests can choose to spend time in the shaded outdoor lounge. The main deck has a beautiful air-conditioned saloon with a bar, a TV/DVD, a stereo player and an assortment of movies, CDs and books. There is a dining area at the aft.
The dive platform is equipped with exit ladders and freshwater showers.
Boat features
All cabins on the Seafari Explorer are fully air-conditioned, have ensuite bathrooms with shower, toilet, a closet with hangers, storage space, and power supply.
Four deluxe double cabins are located on the upper deck, and each has one double bed, work desk and chair with sea view windows. Two deluxe cabins are located on the main deck. These two cabins come with two single beds and have windows with a full view of the sea. There are two standard twin cabins on the lower deck that come with two single beds side by side and portholes.
Lastly, there are four standard double cabins on the lower deck. Each of these cabins comes with one double bed, one single bed side by side and with portholes.
There is a spacious and partially covered sun deck with loungers and a Jacuzzi for guests to relax in between dives. The boat has an open outdoor dining area with comfortable seats and beautiful dining tables just outside of the indoor lounge. The meals provided by the boat’s chef are a mix of local and international cuisine and are served buffet style. There is a well-stocked bar on the main deck.
The Seafari Explorer is equipped with two compressors for divers. Nitrox is made available to divers with EANx certification.
To ensure the safety of both divers and non-divers alike as well as the boat’s crew, the Seafari Explorer is equipped with the necessary safety equipment such as first aid kits, life vests, fire alarms, fire extinguishers.
Best time to go
While diving is suitable all year long, the best time to go diving aboard the Seafari Explorer is between November and May
Logistics
Guests are picked from the airport and transferred to the cruise ship via the boat’s dhoni. They are returned to the airport upon the trip’s completion.
Itinerary
The Seafari Explorer offers itineraries to the north, central and southern atolls of Maldives. The North atolls itinerary includes diving at Baa and Lhaviyani, while that of the south includes stops at Ari and Vaavu atolls. The itineraries aboard the Seafari Explorer vary from 7-14 nights.
There are a total of 15-16 dives with a minimum of one night dive depending on certain conditions. There are 2-3 dives per day. There are two dives on the day before departure. No diving is done on the arrival and departure date. All dives are supervised by professional dive guides.
