Diving on the Sea Star in Galapagos
The beautiful Galapagos Sea Star Journey has all top-class amenities one could hope to have on their small cruise ship. Catering to just 16 guests, this ship has a modern and contemporary design and offers lots of space to rest and unwind after a full day of exploring the Galapagos Islands. In addition, it offers just the right privacy and comfort, so any guest can truly feel the marvelous setting of the Galapagos Islands.
There are three main itineraries that last from 5 to 6 days, but they can also be combined and get larger options for up to 15 days. The first itinerary (6 days) might be ideal for those interested in bird watching, with the possibility of seeing many endemic species. On this journey, travelers are able to watch frigate birds, the Galapagos Hawk, the larger flamingo´s lagoon in the archipelago and many more. Also, these islands are ideal for relaxing and swimming in the crystalline waters. This second itinerary is a day shorter, but it offers the opportunity to have an overview of volcanic formations, lava flows, and lava cones. This trip is great for those who would like to understand part of the origin of the Galapagos Islands. Sharks and blue-footed boobies are just a couple different species, all part of the endemic wildlife that guests can come across with. The last journey gives travelers a great overview of the islands. It has many trails and hikes ideal for those interested in discovering the distinctive nature of each of the islands. Also, guests can enjoy the views of many lookouts with magnificent sights as well as extraordinary lava fields, zodiac rides, and endemic wildlife.
The Galapagos itineraries include thrilling activities like snorkeling with sea lions, zodiac rides, kayaking, and nature walks and hikes to some of the best Galapagos sites. Places that are part of these itineraries include Post Office Bay, Sierra Negra Volcano, and Isabela Island. During the trip, guests also have time for beach relaxation to unwind and enjoy the views. Snorkeling equipment and kayaks are available to any guest without any extra charge. On board there is also an experienced certified naturalist guide, whose wide experience and knowledge of the Galapagos Islands will always be entertaining.
Sea Star Journey Features and Interior
Aboard the Galapagos Sea Star Journey, there are seven spacious air-conditioned cabins, also known as Matrimonial, and one Sea Star Suite, all equipped with panoramic windows so guests can enjoy the wonderful landscapes of the islands. Each cabin features en-suite bathrooms with hot/cold water, storage space, mini-bar, safety deposit boxes, desk, plasma TV, and hairdryer. Twin beds (or one faux queen bed) are always offered when there are families staying in the suites.
On the top deck, there is a spacious solarium that offers both open and shaded comfortable sun loungers, and two hot tubs. On the main deck, guests are welcomed by a well-stocked bar, indoor lounge, dining, and a mini-library.
Meals are served at either the spacious indoor dining area or at the al fresco where guests can enjoy the wonderful sea breeze and view. All dishes are a mix of local and international cuisine freshly prepared on board, always aiming to combine natural and organic ingredients.
Galapagos Sea Star Journey follows all local and international safety regulations. In addition, the ship implements sustainable practices throughout the journey to protect the fragile environment of the Galapagos archipelago. Starting from first aid kits, fire alarms and fire extinguishers, live vests, up to emergency flares, emergency rafts, E.P.I.R.B. distress system, etc.
