Description and details
Diving on the Reina Silvia in Galapagos
Reina Silvia is one of the finest vessels of its size in the Galapagos. Since Charles Darwin’s 1835′ visit and his impressive “Origin of Species” that was published 24 years later, Galapagos has inspired man’s imagination. On this isolated group of islands, the flora and fauna that’s adapting to diverse conditions have evolved into species that can be found nowhere else in the world. With that in mind, the Reina Silvia yacht offers amazing small ship expeditions. Guests can explore the stunning Galapagos Islands of Fernandina, Isabela, Floreana, Santa Cruz, Española, Santiago, Santa Fe, San Cristobal, and Baltra.
The islands’ uniqueness rewards any visitor, giving a feeling of being part of nature itself. As such, the possibility to get up close and personal with Galapagos tortoises, sea lions, penguins, flamingos, as well as the amazing native birds happens on a daily basis. The Reina Silvia yacht was customized to carry up to 16 passengers on their adventure of a lifetime, all in comfort and safety while cruising through the Galapagos Islands. On top of this, there are experienced naturalist guides of the Reina Silvia expedition yacht, making sure guests are explained about every little detail for their surroundings.
Reina Silvia Features and Interior
Being 27m (90 feet) long, the Reina Silvia has six well-appointed staterooms, each with private en-suite bathrooms (shower, lavatory, and vanity), individual AC, and TV & DVD player. Two staterooms are doubles so they can be configured with either one king-sized bed or two twin beds. The four additional staterooms are equipped with two lower beds, making it easy to be configured as twins or king, and one Pullman-style bed. They are considered doubles but can be used as triples upon request, making it perfect for families.
On the upper deck, there is a covered lounge and bar with circular seating, giving guests a room to take advantage of the stunning panoramic views. Drinks at the bar during sunsets and equator crossings or lounging in the cushioned sofa area is a great way for guests to get some relaxing time. There is also a library available on the main deck. From the well-equipped galley, tasty dishes are offered in the spacious dining room. This area is equipped with an LCD projector, and together with the top deck lounge, they are used for lectures, conferences or informative presentations by the naturalist guides.
The yacht also has a swimming/diving platform aft and an extended bow pulpit for dolphin and whale watching. A desalination plant provides all the freshwater needed. The Reina Silvia’s cruising speed of 10 knots allows following a splendid itinerary, visiting the most interesting places on the islands, all during a one- or two-week cruise. The yacht features up-to-date security, navigational and communications equipment, as well as satellite telephony. With experienced and professional guides and crew on-hand, guests will be ensured their trip to the Galapagos Islands is one to remember for a lifetime.
