Diving on the MV Empress in Indonesia

The MV Empress offers a unique, fun and competitive itinerary around Indonesia. This vessel is 22.2 m/72.83 feet in length with solar panels to run the boat using renewable energy. This liveaboard is an ironwood vessel that ensures to give safety voyage and complete with safety equipment.

Boat Interior

This boat has five comfortable cabins that can accommodate a total of 13 guests. All cabins are on the lower deck with individual air-conditioning. Each cabin has storage for clothing, reading lamps, pillows and shared bathrooms except for cabin D that has a private bathroom.

The socialization areas are spacious for any onboard activities. Also, guests can relax at the lounge between island excursions. The shisha lounge, kitchen, and dining room are on the main deck. This level has games, A/V entertainment, and mattresses for relaxation.

There are two spacious sundecks, an open area with bean bags and covered lounge at the upper deck. Guests can watch the ocean view while updating their social media with free Wifi.


The chef onboard serves buffet-style meals at the grand dining area. A wide selection of local and international dishes with fresh ingredients is appetizing. Refreshments are available every meal as well as snacks in between meals. The fully stocked bar has coffee, tea, fruit juices, and alcoholic drinks. Guests can add their request at the booking form for vegan, vegetarian and other specific dietary requirements. Complimentary drinks and snacks are available throughout the safari.

Boat Safety

There are nine crew members including dive guides that will assist and guide guests during the trip. They are vigilant and can manage any situation that might occur on this vessel. MV Empress has first aid kits, life jackets, lifeboats, and modern safety equipment to make sure every sailing is safe.

Dive Deck

The dive deck has a battery charging station, warm-water showers and marine life books. The diving platform has ample space for all the divers, and it has separate zodiac for getting in and out of the ocean. Nitrox is free for those with certification and divers’ logbook. Rental dive equipment and snorkeling gear are available upon reservation.


The staff onboard welcomes guests with refreshments and snacks upon arrival. A short briefing and introduction are given to help guests familiarize themselves with the boat, together with safety guidelines.

Ambon is one of the oldest cities in Indonesia, and many tribes and races live within. This area is a remote diving site with an abundance of marine life and marine plants. Capture the wonders under the surface that has a variety of shark species like black-tipped reef sharks, whale sharks, and wobbegong shark. There are plenty of huge gorgonians, pygmy seahorses, barracudas, orangutan crab, schools of jackfish and thousands of other sea creatures. Professional dive guides are well-trained to know every dive site like the back of their hands. Non-divers can also enjoy snorkeling, kayak, and land excursions to enjoy their holiday in a full blast. The best time to visit this beautiful country is between May to September during the dry season.
