Diving on the Kurabesi in Indonesia

The Beauty of Kurabesi and its Trips

The Kurabesi liveaboard carries the name of the honorable Biak warrior Kurabesi, who in his time supported the Ternate sultan in freeing his people from Portuguese ruling. As a thankful act, he was offered the sultan's daughter's hand. Together they ruled over Easter Ternate, and they named Raja Ampat after their four children.

Today, the Kurabesi spirit sails together with this spacious boat. Built as a traditional wooden phinisi, it is offering great dive trips in the area of the Banda Sea, Raja Ampat, and the Forgotten Islands. As this region offers some of the most bio-diverse diving, there is a great chance for encountering various types of marine life, starting from whale sharks up to pygmy seahorses. But it is not the underwater scenery that is stunning. Above the surface, there are many panoramic forests and mountains that your eyes can enjoy as the trip goes by.

Trips are designed with two things in mind, local communities, and divers. For the first one, the Kurabesi team make sure they give back to the local communities, mostly through implementing eco solutions and marine conservation. And concerning the second point, besides being brought to the most eye-pleasing landscapes in Indonesia, the liveaboard is designed on a way where you can fully immerse that beauty. There is a spacious dive station for kitting up, equipped with a rugged air compressor and dive tanks that can last for up to three dives per day. There is a camera room for any photographer or videographer, and of course, two experienced local dive guides who will make sure everything is in perfect order.

Kurabesi Interior and Features

The Kurabese liveaboard is ready to cater up to 12 guests divided into 6 cabins. There are 2 cabins with double bed and 4 twin cabins with bunk beds, all equipped with private en-suite bathrooms with hot water. Each cabin is decorated with traditional eastern Indonesian woven cloths. Cabins also have individually controlled AC units, spacious storage spaces, fresh towels, and organic toiletries. There are free water tumblers for all guests at any time as well.

In addition to the beautifully designed cabins, guests can enjoy an indoor lounge with a mini library and reading nook both located on the main deck - a perfect spot when rainy days occur. There is also a wide, open sun deck equipped with bean bags and four loungers, perfect for enjoying a stunning sunrise, mesmerizing sunset or just stargazing on board.

The semi-open dining area, located on the upper deck, is another great spot to steal some great views or shots during meal times. The freshly prepared meals are served in a buffet style, all in order to fully enjoy the comfort of your onboard experience.

The Perfect Sports and Entertainment Vessel

The Kurabesi liveaboard is your perfect vessel for the break you always wanted. No matter if you like water sports or you just prefer hiking, the Kurabesi team will make it happen. Browsing through books, watching movies or just playing board games on board - you can do it all. If you are boarding the Kurabesi as a group or a family, two family size kayaks and stand up paddle boards are also available. The best of all - everything is offered free of charge.
