Description and details
Diving on the Mastro Aldo in Indonesia
Operated by European owners, the Mastro Aldo may lack in size but such is complemented by its stability. Aside from being a budget-friendly option, it is also a great option if you want to enjoy more of the remote dive sites within the national park. What should not be missed out is both sunrise and sunset dives.
It runs on 2x 105 HP Mitsubishi engines to which it owes its cruising speed of 7 knots and top speed of 9 knots.
In terms of amenities, the vessel is not left out of its contemporaries. It has an air conditioned lounge which serves as an entertainment spot for some music time or movie screenings. The dive deck is spacious and shaded.
For non-diving moments, guests can take advantage of using the sun deck for under-the-sun soaking. Outdoor dining can be enjoyed while befriending other guests onboard and having exchanges of diving experiences.
The vessel has 5 cabins.
On the Main Deck there are 2 standard twin bed cabins and 1 master double bed cabin. All of which have windows and en-suite bathrooms.
The Lower Deck houses 2 budget double bed cabins with portholes and outside private bathrooms.
All cabins have air conditioning and fans. There are provisions for hot water showers, hand basins, towels and toiletries for hygienic purposes. There are reading lights for use shall the guests want to have some reading before going to bed. Cabinets and shelves as well as safe boxes can be used to store personal belongings. Life jackets and fire extinguishers are also provided as primary safety gears in case of emergencies.
Food and Beverage
Guests can enjoy sumptuous meals in the vessel’s shaded open air area which is convertible into a window lounge. Breakfasts are enjoyed buffet-style while both lunch and dinner are with waitress services.
For breakfast, usual servings are a-la-carte eggs, pancakes, and fruit salads. There are also German breads with choices of yummy Nutella and other jams as spreads.
A typical full-meal menu consists of traditional Indonesian, Asian fusion and international cuisine. There are about 3 to 4 meals served within the day courtesy of the liveaboard’s two western trained chefs. Usual foods include but may not be limited to fresh seafood BBQ, Italian recipes, as well as Indonesian specialties. It is notable that there is no repetition to the menu served unless guests request for it.
Aside from full meals, there are also complementary servings of coffee, tea, fruit juices, carbonated drinks, and drinking water. On the other hand, alcoholic beverages like beer, wine, and liquor are served with reasonable prices.
If there are special dietary requirements, requests should be made in advanced notices upon booking. Assured thereto that these requirements will be met and served by the crew.
Mastro Aldo is known for its short cruises of 3 nights or 6 nights only. Despite the short time frame, guests are assured of wonderful diving experiences across the Komodo National Park. Minimum of 22 dives are up for experience by those who book the 6 nights package. Aside from diving, guests can enjoy fishing and snorkeling.
