Description and details
Diving on the Cormorant in Galapagos
MC Cormorant – experience a lifetime memorable trip to the world-known Galapagos Islands
The 33 meters (approx. 108 feet) long Cormorant is a multi-steel hulled vessel. It was built in 2011 and has been offering fun-filled adventurous cruises to the spectacular islands of the Galapagos. It was completely renovated including the steel hull up, major systems, interior and exterior, and new ultra-modern features were added. The powerful Cummins 400 HP engine makes it super silent and stable to enough to cruise at a top speed of 14 knots per hour, which means you will spend less time in traveling and more time exploring. The well-trained crew is friendly and vigilant. There is also a certified naturalist, who guides the travelers throughout the trip. The tour is designed specially to guarantee close encounters with incredible wildlife with complete supervision and a safe environment. You may witness the presence of giant tortoises, naughty penguins, playful sea lions, natural scenery and numerous sharks and fish species. Your journey to the Galapagos will truly become a unique and unforgettable experience with the Cormorant liveaboard.
The rebuilt Cormorant offers modern luxuries, comfort, and stability without neglecting the performance of the boat. There is a capacity to welcome 16 guests in 8 opulent cabins. Each cabin has an air-conditioned facility and a private bathroom with washbasin, shower, and toiletries. There is a large space for luggage and other belongings. The cabins are located on the main and upper deck. There is a private balcony to enjoy the cozy evenings. Cabins located on the upper deck are ideal for a close group of friends or family traveling together, as there are interconnecting rooms. With plenty of communal areas, Cormorant is great for socializing yet still offering solitude to those who prefer it.
The main deck of Cormorant has cabins with balconies and panoramic windows along with social areas. These social areas include an indoor dining room, whose interior and design reflects a restaurant-type look, an air-conditioned lounge, coffee station, a bar, and a buffet area. There are 4 cabins on the upper deck with the captain’s and the guide’s cabin as well. Whereas, the sun deck has an alfresco dining area with wooden chairs and a hexagon shaped jacuzzi to enjoy the views with a drink. There are 2 emergency lifeboats, which are tied on the sides of the sun deck.
Food and Entertainment
The cruise director organizes a daily fun-filled adventure schedule for the guests onboard. This includes land excursions, BBQ on white sandy beches, and hiking. Whereas, you can also use the in-house entertainment facilities in the indoor saloon. The chef on board is always busy in trying new ways to please the hungry guests. Ecuadorian and international dishes are presented in a buffet.
When to go
Galapagos welcomes travelers all year round. There are two main seasons, the warm season starts from December and ends by May. During this season, the sun shines brightly with striking rays as the sky is clear without clouds. If you have a plan to dive here, then the favorable time to visit Galapagos is from June to November. The temperature is slightly cooler and there will be multiple chances to view the diverse marine life under the deep crystal-blue water.
