Diving on the Azalea Cruise in the Maldives
The luxury 38m/124 feet Azalea goes on year-round diving tours to the best dive sites in the Maldives and accommodates a maximum of 16 guests. The boat has three main decks and a sun deck.
The Azalea yacht is tastefully decorated and has nine cabins. The nine cabins consist of 6 Superior, 2 Ocean View Jr. and 1 Ocean View-Master of which six cabins are on the lower deck, with the remaining three cabins located on the upper deck.
The boat’s crew is dedicated to ensuring that guests experience the best of the Maldivian hospitality, as the liveaboard offers all sorts of entertainment such as board games, water golf, TV, DVD player, and PlayStation games that keep them occupied all through the 8days/7nights cruise.
All cabins in the Azalea Cruise liveaboard are fully air-conditioned, have climate control and en-suite bathrooms and are fitted with modern amenities. The Ocean View Master Suite and the Oceanview Junior suite are fitted with King/Queen size beds along with the best Egyptian linens. Cabins on the upper deck have large picture windows for incredible views.
The boat has an air-conditioned indoor saloon with an entertainment system, bar and large sofas where divers and non-diver can relax. The indoor saloon is directly connected to an outdoor lounge area on the upper deck with loungers where guests can sunbathe. Also, there is a sundeck with loungers and shade with a jacuzzi for guests to enjoy.
The meals are served by the onboard chef in the indoor dining area on the main deck. The meals are served buffet style and are a mix of local and international cuisine. Guests with special dietary requirements are also catered for by the dedicated crew members.
The Azalea Cruise comes with a modern, spacious and comfortable dhoni (diving boat) to ensure that all diving trips are tailored to divers’ specifications. The PADI certified dive team ensures that guests can enjoy the ultimate diving holiday. Nitrox is available onboard as is rental equipment if required.
The boat is equipped with necessary safety equipment such as oxygen tanks, first aid kits, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and life rafts.
Best time to go
While diving is suitable all year long, the best time to go diving aboard the Azalea Cruise liveaboard is between October and May when visibility is improved.
Passengers are picked from the Ibrahim Nasir International airport in Male or from their hotels/guest houses by a member of the Azalea staff and transferred to the boat around 2 pm on the departure day. Upon the trip’s completion, guests are transported back to Male by 11 am, from where they make their way back to their hotels or the Ibrahim Nasir International Airport.
The Azalea liveaboard goes on an 8days/7nights trip to North Male, South Male, Felidhe Atoll and Ari Atoll. There is a total of 17 dives including a 1-night dive, depending on weather conditions. Guests are served lunch on the arrival day, briefed on safety procedures by the boat’s guide and shown their cabins before a light dinner. There are no dives on the arrival day. There are about 3-4 dives per day. There are two dives on the day before departure. There are no dives on the departure day. All diving is supervised and led by an experienced dive guide.
