From one of the more recognizable names in foodware, an insulated food container for saucy or soupy meals, that might be the best you can get. The Thermos King Vacuum-Insulated Food Jar has the stainless steel construction that seems a little more impressive than cheaper options.
For a few extra bucks you won’t have to worry about tossing this around. Though it might go against the general zen-like culture of a chilled bento box lifestyle, the King food jar will keep your miso soup warm as well as it will keep your coffee contained.
This one impresses and exceeds the other food jar models in terms of keeping the contents inside. That integrity, more than anything else grants it high praise and is deserving of a bento piece place in anyone’s curated and cultivated lifestyle.

The closing design is great. The lid itself has a twist lever to take advantage of the vacuum properties of the jar. The cap on the other hand makes sure any drips from pouring stay inside rather than rubbing off on anything else.
With a cap, it also makes being able to drink your soup while spooning out the noodles or rice or vegetables. This is a way to eat slowly, intentionally and in a more healthy way, which we like.
Even though the many principles of the bento box, like integrity and calm, are covered by the Thermos King V, it’s probably the least bento-like container we’ve reviewed–aesthetically speaking that is. That makes this a product for people who value functionality above all else. For those people, the price tag and result is worth it.
