Best On-the-Go

“Hydration made simple.”–that’s what CamelBak promises us with their Chute Mag Water Bottle. And after testing it, we can indeed confirm that!

On the outside, CamelBak’s Chute Mag may look like your run-of-the-mill plastic water bottle, but after a closer inspection, we can testify this is a cleverly designed, functional, plastic water bottle.

It’s lightweight while still feeling durable. Plastic materials are free of BPA, BPS, and BPF, it’s also dishwasher-safe for easy cleaning, and the cap is screwable, which means it won’t leak, but it will be tricky to operate with one hand.

It features a perfect mouth size, which delivers a great water flow, a built-in handle for easy transport, and the coolest feature we found, a universal cap designed with a magnetic handle that holds the cap out of the way while you’re drinking—an improvement from the previous model and the reason behind the “Mag” on the name.

Overall, an excellent everyday plastic water bottle.

CamelBak Chute Mag

The CamelBak Chute Mag is one of the best plastic water bottles we’ve tested. That’s because of its simplicity, affordability, durability and the lid.

Water is life. If you’re having trouble keeping up with your water intake, the right-sized Chute Mag might be the answer.

This CamelBak water bottle isn’t one of those high-end drinkwares. No double-wall insulation. It’s in the mid-range of the market, but for what it does, it does quite well.

But its water-and-water-only focus will aid in making sure you get your healthy dose regularly. It appeals to hikers, fitness freaks and even commuters.

Is it a reliable water bottle worth keeping or just another “low-cost, low-quality” stereotype victim?

A breezy way to rehydrate

Expect a hassle-free hydrating experience when you use this CamelBak water bottle. It offers you a simple design with a surprise, the “Mag,” the Magnetic stow cap.

This innovation keeps the cap away from your face while you’re drinking. It sticks to the lid once flipped open with the help of a magnet. That’s great when driving, allowing you to easily flip open the sipping flap, drink, and then flip it closed again.

The Takeya 24 oz. Originals Insulated Water Bottle also has its take on this innovation with its Hinge-Lock technology.

And since the Chute Mag has a covered mouthpiece, it keeps particles out of the drinking surface. It’s an edge over tumblers with an exposed lid like the Hydro Flask 16 oz. Wide Mouth with Sip Lip.

With a wide opening, filling this plastic flask with ice cubes isn’t a problem either. The wide opening also means that it’s easy to clean.

Now, take note that this CamelBak water bottle model comes at a very affordable price. Don’t expect anything fancy. No double-wall insulation that pricier water bottles from Hydro Flask, Yeti, and Klean Kanteen have. Meaning it can’t retain any temperature.

This water bottle is easy to carry with a 2-finger hold. We found this was a great feature for quickly grabbing it from backpacks with larger side pockets. The handle makes it easy to daisy-chain to packs too.

If a comfy grip matters to you, check out Hydro Flask 16 oz. Wide Mouth with Sip Lid’s Flex Strap.

For its price, CamelBak Chute Mag 32 oz. Water Bottle is pretty ok. It gives you the convenience of carrying your water anywhere you go, and that’s that. Simplicity like plastic water bottles always have been. Just minus the bad materials.

It’s straight-up plastic, but it’s BPA, BPF, and BPS-free. So don’t worry about catching anything like you would with super cheap plastic bottles.

The fact that it’s got the size you need, it’s chemical-free, and equipped with a magnetic cap with a functional smart handle for ease of use is more than enough to repay what it costs.

Your simple companion for everyday use

This 1-liter CamelBak water bottle can keep you hydrated for a long period. You can take it to the office or on your morning walk in the park to refresh your energy.

Since it’s not insulated, it’s not the best option for your overnight camping. Using it for the following morning’s hot coffee won’t be a good idea. You can put ice cubes to keep your beverage cold for a while, but it’s not going to last long.

For outdoors, forking a few more bucks on an insulated water bottle like Takeya 24 oz. Originals Insulated Water Bottle is an option. It can keep your hot drink hot for almost 12 hours, while cold drinks can stay cold for up to 24 hours depending on the weather.

But if you’re someone forgetful of your daily water intake, the CamelBak Chute Mag is a great water bottle that can help you out. Its straight-up approach will make it easier for you. Pop the cap and drink, and that’s it! The universal cap is also compatible with CamelBak’s Eddy+, Hot Cap, Carry Cap, and Pivot Bottle. So if you have any of those, you can interchange the lids as you wish.

The lack of insulation of this CamelBak water bottle is somehow beneficial for you as well. You can’t stock it with cold or hot drinks for long, so you’re limited to hydrating with water only.

If you want to take your hydrating practice up another notch, see Brita Premium Filtering Stainless Steel Water Bottle. Its activated carbon will eliminate any contaminants in your water. It’s a great option if you’re always traveling or have a water intake recommendation but can’t always refill with filtered water. Drinking tap water will be safe using this one.

The CamelBak Chute Mag is not the best of the best in terms of features.

But its no-fuss approach and low price are what make this CamelBak water bottle stand out. We continue to use a 20 oz Chute Mag for commuting and around the office.

How does it compare to other water bottles?

With Tritan plastic, the CamelBak Chute Mag water bottle looks like glass, a glass that won’t break!

How good is that?!

It’s the same material that Nalgene Wide Mouth Water Bottle used.

Whether you accidentally drop it or you throw it without a care inside your backpack, this CamelBak water bottle can stand the impact. Some tumblers made with 18/8 stainless steel are dent-prone, like in Hydro Flask 24 oz. Standard Mouth.

And even though it’s plastic, rest assured that you can enjoy every gulp without any unwanted smell or taste.

Now, if you’re someone who enjoys flavored drinks, this CamelBak water wattle is just ok for your needs. But it’s still plastic, so keeping flavored beverages can affect its quality over the long run.

Choosing glass or stainless steel water bottles would be the smartest thing to do. Or, check out Cirkul Water Bottle. You can choose from various cartridges to add a healthy, flavorful taste to every chug.

CamelBak Chute Mag 32 oz. Water Bottle is quite simple to use. Its opening is wide enough to drop in ice cubes and pour from other containers without spills.

This water bottle has a screw mechanism. Just turn it clockwise as you would with most drinkwares to close.

Pop the cap open (kept away from your face by the magnet), and drink. No need to unscrew the whole lid like what we experienced with Klean Kanteen Insulated Classic 20 oz. Water Bottle.

This Chute Magwater bottle is dishwasher-friendly, making it a breeze to maintain. It’s a plus if you don’t have the time to hand wash. And if that’s the case, you need to steer away from Brita Premium Filtering Water Bottle.

You won’t have any troubles taking apart the CamelBak Chute Mag Water Bottle before cleaning. It’s as simple as removing the lid from the water bottle.

Some drinkwares can be as complicated as fixing your car. It was a bit confusing for us when we first unrigged Hydro Flask 16 oz. Wide Mouth with Sip Lid. We ended up with four different parts that we then had to assemble again after cleaning.

CamelBak Chute Mag 32 oz. Water Bottle is a steal for anyone who loves water. For roughly $10, you can carry 1-liter of refuel anywhere you go.

No, it’s not as fancy as other water bottles out there, but this CamelBak model can keep up with your daily hydrating needs.

Considering its affordability and durability, you can’t be complaining about anything. It’s still way better than disposable water bottles you’ll get straight out of the grocery.

It’s chemical-free. You stay healthy and help reduce plastic waste at the same time.

Geared with its magnetic cap, no stressing with the cover hitting your face as you drink.

Maintenance is also a painless process since it’s dishwasher-safe.

This CamelBak water bottle is a straightforward, high-quality drinkware.

If you’re short on budget, but water is life, you need to get CamelBak Chute Mag 32 oz. Water Bottle.
