Adidas Linear Mini Backpack - Review 2023

Adidas Linear Mini Backpack is a stylish way to stay lightweight while outside. It’s an excellent choice for any minimalist out there and those who want to transition from overpacking.

With a 6-liter capacity, backed by a robust build and sleek designs, this small backpack will hit the creative light-packer in you.

Complete with organizational features, Linear Mini seemed to hold up well and blend effortlessly with modern styles.

Construction and Design 

This small backpack from Adidas comes with both cute prints and plain colors. You can have your Linear Mini in Almost Blue/Snow Globe, Black, Black/Pulse Mint Green, Altered Blue-Clear Blue Color Wash/ Shadow Navy/White, Wonder Mauve/Pink, Jersey Grey/Onix Grey/ White, and more.

Construction-wise, it’s polyester-made. You can expect your small backpack to be durable, wrinkle-, water- and abrasion-resistant. This material is also known for its rough and tough texture attributed to its robustness. Although heavier than nylon alternatives like Outlander Foldable Outdoor, you won’t feel much difference since Linear Mini is only 10.5” x 8.5” x 4.25”, weighing 8.47 ounces.

Close up: Polyester is a tough fabric and a more affordable alternative to nylon.

The stitching is clean, sturdy, and won’t rip by the seams. Even the side pockets come with reinforced stitching, so you can count that your small backpack won’t give up after a handful of uses. The zippers have Adidas branding on them and slide easily without bumps. We know how frustrating faulty zips are, whether it’s a hiking backpack, gym bag, daypack, or a duffle, so the hassle-free access was excellent.

Now, you can seamlessly access your items while using Linear Mini. But if you want a wide opening where you can see everything in one glance, we recommend MADISON & DAKOTA, Fjallraven Kanken, and Himawari Mini.

Harness System

The shoulder straps of Adidas Linear Mini are typical webbings looping through D-rings on top. It gets the job done. However, they’re not as comfy over the long run compared to padded harnesses like in Nike Kids’ Brasilia and Mountain Warehouse Mini. Some customers also complain about how they broke quickly. We didn’t encounter this problem while using this small backpack.

There’s a back padding for a more comfortable carrying experience. Though with relatively small capacity, any small backpack with extra padding still feels different from non-padded ones like Outlander Foldable Outdoor and JanSport Half Pint. The bag can hold its shape too.

Adjustment on-the-fly is a piece of cake. There’s no need for complicated and time-consuming rigging like what we had to deal with while using Fjallraven Kanken. A top haul loop is also there so you can grab and hang it when not in use.

We know that some of you are interested in hybrid products. If you want a small backpack that can morph into a sling bag, look at HITOP Lightweight. Switch from one style to another for the price of one.

You generally won’t have any hiccups with its low capacity while carrying a Linear Mini. It’s not the comfiest harness, but it’s good enough for its supposed purpose.

Storage 

Linear Mini Backpack offers a total of 6 liters of space. With what we’ve experienced, that’s more than enough room to carry every essential you need. Stay lightweight and on the go with this small backpack from Adidas. Do more and keep your hands free whether you use this bag as your all-around to the café, gym, grocery, diaper bag, or your purse for your kiddo’s soccer games.

Main Compartment

You can quickly and effortlessly access the main compartment since this Adidas small backpack has a 2-way metal zipper. Sling it from your right or left shoulder. You won’t have any trouble. They glide smoothly and won’t break after a couple of uses.

Once you open the main compartment of the Linear small backpack, you’ll notice a zipped mesh pocket at the back. It’s roomy enough to keep your items organized. Plus, it’s the safest spot overall. Anything important can stay secure here.

That little pocket is better than scrambling up everything, as we experienced with JanSport Half Pint and Herschel Nova. If you require carrying a tablet/laptop, Adidas Linear Mini might not be the best small backpack for you. RAINS Mini and Himawari Mini Waterproof offer a built-in laptop sleeve.

The actual area inside can accommodate a couple of water bottles (just for reference). It can definitely work as a diaper bag where you can fit in wipes, diapers, food, pacifier, an extra set of clothes, tiny Vaseline, your phone, and a power bank. Use a Linear mini backpack for your training sessions if you don’t like carrying gym bags or duffels. Sneak in your drink and fresh change, and you’re all set to hit the weights.

Front Pocket

The front pocket features a big pull tab. Any small item you need in a quick snatch- chapstick, Bluetooth headphones, some change, and keys. It’s not the safest for your phone but the most accessible. Just remember to stay mindful of your surroundings.

There’s nothing special about the front pocket of the Adidas Linear small backpack. However, other mini bags like MADISON & DAKOTA and Fjallraven Kanken have an overhang over the zipper for extra security. Wrong hands trying to steal your stuff won’t be as breezy.

All in all, Linear Mini Backpack’s little front compartment serves you with the convenience you won’t get from pocketless models like Sandqvist Stig and Mountain Warehouse Mini.

Mesh Side Pockets

We value staying hydrated and having a drink within reach matters. We appreciate that this small backpack from Adidas has mesh side pockets. It’s useful compared to “for-aesthetic-only” ones like we saw while testing a mini bag from IHAYNER (only flat items can fit).

Linear Mini vs. I IHAYNER

Side pockets offer additional space for your items. The versatile mesh pockets of the Linear small backpack are a handy add-on we didn’t enjoy during our time with HITOP Lightweight, TNF Berkeley, and Dickies Mini Festival. Even its sibling Adidas Core lacks this perk.
